YouTube TV rate increase

The new rate will increase to 82.99 in January. $10/month increase. Cancelled. Probably back to Sling.

Jus got my notice as well.

Merry Christmas.

Bummer, but not unexpected. Still a great deal relative to cable TV. As more and more people cut the cord, the burden of paying the content producers will continue to shift from cable subscribers to streamers.

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's on its way. I'm inclined to drop it, but wife likes it and it is the best one from my experience. Maybe I just weed out some streaming services

Don't like it either, but everything goes up these days. $10 is not going to kill me, and YouTube TV has the best cloud DVR and streaming service around.

We had Hulu live + about 82.95 + tax & fees about $92. We canceled went to YouTube. Now they're the same price. Guess back to Hulu live + until they raise their price.again. They are great for sports lovers they have ESPN +, I can watch my hockey team.
I also like that I can delete a program I recorded.

I believe the Hulu price also includes Disney+ which has some good shows.

NFL Sunday Ticket required YouTube TV last year. That might have changed this year but we just kept the entire package. Might look into HuluLive w/Disney and a standalone Sunday Ticket next year.

I think you could buy the NFL Sunday ticket and watch it through the free version of YouTube and didn't need to pay for YouTubeTV.

Hubby wants golf channel and weather channel. Other than that, he mostly watches network news and sitcom reruns and streams old movies on channels that have ads. He can get everything besides golf and weather with Roku TV, which is free. So we're paying $90/month just so he can see golf channel and weather channel.

I watch Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, so I don't care what's on the TV in the other room. Gonna check Sling and see what they've got for less.

Beings Google owns Utube now I’m surprised they’re not charge to even get on Utube on web. Probably coming in near future?

Well, they bought YT in 2006 and it hasn’t happened yet. I’m sure they are raking in the bucks from advertising.

Probably should have looked into it a little before making that comment.

Alphabet is the parent company. Google is a subsidiary. YouTube is also a subsidiary, as are Waze, Fitbit, and Nest.

I just noticed that SlingTV streams most shows in standard definition, and you have to pay $20/month more for HD. That would bring the cost up to what I'm already paying for YouTubeTV, if I want to keep the Weather and Golf Channels (using the Blue plan with sports-plus and Frndly services).

Or I can pay the same as the above, for Hulu+Live, which comes with HD streaming AND it comes with Hulu, which we don't have and I'd love to watch from time to time but don't want to pay extra for it.

AND SO - I'll recommend to hubby that we get the Hulu+Live.

Good to know. Sling is raising their rates on 12/20/24 by $6 for the Blue and Orange plans. I didn’t check on the combined package.

Why would you switch to an inferior platform? YouTube TV is still the best deal out there even if they raised the price 20.00 a month.
