Question

Nothing to do with white crosses but do the lawn ornaments like sand cranes or different birds okay. In my walks I see many of these or is it no one complains. Next do residents of Middleton pay the outside rate (the highest) for championship golf? Also when they give population figures for the villages, I would think Middleton would count because it’s a place with its own zip code.

Question 1 - It varies by district, need to check the deed restrictions for the district in question.

Question 2 - The new winter golf rate sheet indicates Middleton Members pay the enhanced guest rates, which fall in between resident members and resident guests. It’s not clear if they get t time priority over resident members like enhanced guests get?

Question 3 - ????

Each area has its own set of deed restrictions. MOST of the Villages deed restrictions state that lawn ornaments of ANY kind are forbidden. However potted plants are allowed. So you could have a pot shaped like a bird, and plant something in it, and that'd be okay. Some people claim that ornaments "under the eaves" of the house (right up against the house itself and not on the lawn or distant flowerbed) are acceptable in some neighborhoods. But you'd have to check each set of community standards to find out what applies in which area.

The Historic section doesn't have that particular restriction, which is why you'll see most homes with some kind of lawn ornaments in the yard or in the flower-beds.

In addition, these deed restrictions are subject to enforcement ONLY when someone complains about a violation. If everyone LIKES the statue under the palm tree on your front lawn, then it's fine to have it there. But as soon as someone complains about it, you have to remove it.

Personally, I have no problem with lawn ornaments, statues, pots, signs, etc. But, please do not hang a wind chime on your property. Unfortunately, there are no deed restrictions against them, but they should be banned everywhere. My opinion.

I think the birds and other things are great and tend to blend in good. Of course what I think cannot compete with deed restrictions. As for what a lawn is can be a different subject. Lawn is the grass area of a yard so as long as you don’t have anything in the grass you should be fine. On a side note, if you put your cross in a planter it is fine.

Doubtful, but all complaint driven so YMMV.

Well anyone can be the neighborhood complaint organizer. Not much work, take pic of the offensive ornament, with address in pic, quickly fill out multiple complaints on line. Then watch community standards stop at each home.

It was done in all 4 of our neighborhoods, then one could be from anywhere in TV and file a complaint. 1st house complaint for landscaping that developer put in dismissed. 2nd house, plants too close to lot line, not our plants. Dismissed. Third house, a large white cross in our flower bed.. it was a Hawaiian vine gone dormant…dismissed. Be kind to the CS person they take a lot of crap, and much of their time is wasted on incorrect complaints filed.

Some districts now have rules one must live within the district to file.

I comply with all rules and deed restrictions. Anyone within The Villages can inspect my property, and if they find a violation, I will correct It immediately.

Definition of a troll turning in possible violations.

I only see 2020 data (the last census) and even then, the area marked as the Villages doesn’t include anything south of 44.

If your concern is another community then you would have to look up their restrictions for that district. Not sure I would be concerned about other districts other than yours and I would hope you know your restrictions without asking? Mine says “lawn ornaments are prohibited except for seasonal displays not exceeding 30 days”. Seems clear?

bsloan1960 12-29-2024 08:53 PM

In our previous town a home owner has a TOILET on their front yard with flowers planed in it. This is why people can't be allowed to express themselves with yard art here.

All rules should be same over all districts. No means no lawn ornaments. But that’s my opinion.

You would have to hire lawyer to clarify restrictions and easements get close to what good and what’s not. :clap2:
