Home insurance cost went down

First time, since I have my TV home in 7 years, my home insurance for the same policy, same company, decreased. Very nice!

No, an actual 10% deduction - just a pleasant surprise. Now if we could also get the property tax lowered, after all market values have been decreasing ….

What is the company?

I am happy that my homeowners insurance only went up $29 this year. I would be really happy if it had declined by 10%.

Hope(for your sake) that they handle claims properly. Most companies are charging more and/or cancelling

One has no idea how each individual claim would be handled, until the actual event. Long standing insurance companies, could pay or deny the same claim as a newer insurance company. After Milton one just needs to look at the blue tarps on homes still waiting for repairs to realize some well known companies, denied claims.

As a consumer, I think it is difficult to evaluate insurance products, coverage and understand insurer performance. Often our experience with insurers is simply a financial transaction taking the form of premium payment. Fortunately few of us actually have to submit a property or liability claim under a policy. The agreement between the insured and the insurer seems quite simple, we pay a premium certain for coverage against some event that occurs in the future. And we expect the insurer to pay, defend and or indemnity us based on the terms and conditions of the policy.

How may of us actually read the policy, understand the terms and conditions, or are able to compare the performance of one insurer vs. another? I always count on my licensed agent/broker to explain what the policy covers and leave it at that.

Like so may things in life it is a simple transaction that could have significant results.

Mine only went up $101 and I was pleasantly surprised, was expecting much worse.

I can't help but wonder if some aspect of your coverage was reduced or eliminated.

Progressive 2250$. Kin insurance 1530$. Kin has a good rating. But you don’t know till you have a claim.

I read it carefully - same coverage. The hurricane coverage premium went up which is a large part of the total premium, and the premium for the other stuff went down.

KIN has a reputation for dramatically increasing premiums on the first renewal date, Are you in year two yet?
