Caddyshack

Released 45 years ago today. Arguably the funniest movie ever made, and without a doubt the most quoted movie of all time. During the filming the script was basically scrapped and the movie became an impromptu performance by a bunch of comedians snorting cocaine and drinking booze. They most certainly don’t make movies like they did back in the day. Long live Caddyshack.

Very funny. The only comedy that would compete is its a mad mad mad mad world

Caddyshack and Animal House. Two movies that will never be bested.

I would add The Dude (The Big Labowski) to make it a trifecta.

Be the ball.

I would add "Young Frankenstein" to the list, or one of the other classic Mel Brooks movies.

Mel Brooks made a lot of really funny movies. His niece is on Talk of the Villages once in a while.

I will have to check out Caddyshack again.

I might have seen it at a theater but probably not.

Agreed. Rodney Dangerfield was at his best in that one.

I saw maybe one movie a week in 1980. List of American films of 1980 - Wikipedia

The Big Red One - Wikipedia. I probably would have gone to this one that week.

IMO “ Mars attack” right up there with them.

Hape2Bhr 07-26-2025 02:47 PM

I'd place "Airplane" in there too (also 1980).
