A slope rating isn’t really relevant for courses where there is no consistency in the condition of the greens throughout the year.

It is if you are going to post your score. The accuracy of the slope rating is a separate matter. But no matter the conditions the true slope on the executives will be really low.

Slope is not affect by course conditions.

"Course conditions" are taken into consideration by "Playing Conditions Calculation" (PCC).

I think the executives can be very tough on your handicap. The closest executive to my house is Laurel Oaks. It has a rating of 29 and a slope of 88 from the black tees.

With my 18 handicap I would need to shoot a 35 or better (8 out of 20 times) or my handicap would go up. Not easy for a bogey golfer prone to the occasional double or triple.

It's the same with most of the Championship courses. That's how the Handicap system works. On ridiculously easy courses, you need to shoot low numbers.

What's the deal with keeping your handicap down? It's supposed to be an accurate representation of your potential scores and the system does a fairly good job at calculating that.

OK , I’ll go with that. What is the PCC of the typical Villages Executive course, and do you really think it accurately reflects the extreme variation of the conditions of the greens throughout the year? The greens conditions of the Executives we play throughout the year can vary from a 10 (worst possible) to about a 5 (best possible), compared to the greens on just about any day at Tierra Del Sol.

Here's the problem with PCC, as it relates to The Villages. I don't believe (but I don't know) enough golfers submit legitimate scores to the GHIN system, for the system to work properly .... especially as it relates to the Executive courses.

Also keep in mind, the GHIN system is predicated on golfers playing per the Rules of Golf and reporting all legitimate scores. Any variations from the official Rules of Golf, negates the entire premise of the system.

That pretty much disqualifies the Executives.

I don't in any way want to keep my index artificially low, but I also don't want to be labelled a sandbagger. And that is what will happen if I show up to a money game at my home course with an extra couple of strokes and no degradation in my game. The system generally does a good job, but I mention a nuance of the system is that easy tracks often make your index go up.

Easy tracks make your handicap go up, because you're going to need those strokes when you play tougher courses.

Don't submit Exec course scorecards. Problem solved.
Just treat a round as practice, and a bit of fun.
