Accident
 

Was walking down Buena Vista Blvd. this morning and saw a big moving van pulled over on the north side coming out of the round-a-bout near Turtle Mound. There was a bicycle and man on the ground behind the moving van.I assume the accident happened while negotiating the round-a-bout. Many emergency vehicles responded.

Please be careful out there.

That may explain why a Medivac helicopter landed in the field next to Colony Cottage about 10:50 this morning and then shortly thereafter took off to-wards Orlando.

Yes, I seen a helicopter but did not know it was a Medivac. It would fit the time frame. Hope the bicyclist is OK. and not hurt too badly. I wonder how many truck drivers come in off of 466A and never seen a round-a-bout before?

Bicycles on roads
 

Not everyone travelling our roads (especially Buena Vista) are used to seeing bicycles running with traffic in the middle of the road. The bicycles need to be confined to cart paths (my opinion only)...............and this even on a good day is not a safe practice. Wonder how many folks have been mamed or worse riding bicycles on our roads?

gimme a break.... Cyclists ride on roads all over the world and it's their right to do so. Unfortunately, bad things happen sometimes. They're called ACCIDENTS. Certainly, I hope the cyclist fully recovers.

Personally, I believe cyclist are safer on the roads than on the cart paths.

But, whatever....

I think your silly picture was inappropriate but what the heck do I know. I do know there are many threads where I would think "the sky is falling" would be funny.

I'll offer my two cents at the risk of being flamed - from a runner's and biker's perspective... if more people would get off of their dead butts and do some exercise - they may be more understanding about bikers, runners, walkers etc. Everyday here, I find that I have to either jump off the shoulder (golf cart/ bike lane) to avoid being hit by either a golf cart or car.

My second month of living here, I too was hit by a car. Thankfully, it was a low speed impact and only slightly injured my arm. The best part was that the man who hit me, was only concerned about the dent in his car. Neither he nor his wife asked me if I was ok. "Look at the dent you put in my car" was all that he kept saying...

I'll continue to run and bike daily and watch carefully as everyone rolls by in their carts, cars or any other motorized vehicle they happen to have. The Villages are a fun place to explore under your own power - try it!

Yes, it is a good reminder that the paths were designed for all means of transportation, walking and running included. To be fair, I find most cart drivers to be curtious.

I have been lucky so for on the cart path. I did change my habit and ensure I am facing what is coming at me. No excuse for the car driver who hit you and his lack of concern.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm a cyclist and I'll take my chances on the roads. Much safer than the paths! Hope the rider recovers quickly!
