Are you preparing for the hurricane?

Should I do anything special to prepare for the hurricane?
I charged my rechargable wine bottle opener, bought some candles & some water. Should I do anything else, or do you think it will miss us?

This is a miss!

No sense wasting the charged wine opener! When's the party?

Thank heavens you have a level head on your shoulders and do what is important first. Sweetie and I laid in a supply of cookies and found a place under the washer and dryer to hide. However, neither of us will fit in those nifty drawers.

Started out the week concerned about our place in TV, now we are preparing up here for the storm, expected Saturday nite....having survived a little rumble yesterday.

Fun week.

Not to put a damper on the humor (I appreciate it) but as a former Red Cross volunteer, having been to hurricane disaster sites, including Katrina, I strongly recommend you have a disaster kit ready at all times. Hurricanes are not the only concern, tornadoes, earthquakes, or terriorist activities can occur with zero warning.

I am not going to bore you what needs to be in supply kit:

Now that being said, let's have a hurricane party!

Figmo Bohica 08-24-2011 09:23 AM

Hurricane parties are great, tornado parties are the pits. Salpal has it right. Have a great time with the hurricane party but be prepared for the worst, have your BOB ready to go with the stuff that you will need in case of an emergency. Always be like a good boy or girl scout, Be Prepared.

But, here in TV, I'm inclined to suggest: Don't Panic!

First of all, follow uujudy's lead and make sure your battery-powered wine opener is fully charged. And, of course, make sure that the cellar is appropriately stocked!

Lay in extra crackers and some really good cheddar! You should be well taken care of!

In the unlikely event that your opener loses power, be sure to call me. I have several hand-operated cork removers, available for nothing more than glass or two! :D

I still have my earthquake kit from California and hubby has two packed bug out bags...between them we are well prepared. Be sure to have bottled water, a flashlight and/ or candles, and some cash on hand. Oh, and kitty crack for Baby Monroe!

Dont take your eye's off it yet!

As of 5pm 8/24 some of the forecast computer models are suggesting a track shift back to the West. Just how far remains to be (watched) seen.

Just be prepared. This one may not hit us but...the next one COULD!

Thanks, SALPAL for the informative Red Cross list....we won't be at TV until October but it's good to know what we should know!

here in our little corner of the jersey shore we are usually well prepared since hubs is a volunteer fireman and an ex-chief of the local fire dept. so details are in place. last things to do are to gas up the pick-up truck, pick up some ice cream [if the power goes put we will have to eat it!] and call the agent to increase the house insurance! ;)

... plus, nothing quells a panic like a box of chocolates. Please, don't forget the chocolates!
