Roach question
 

I have been told that roaches like to eat the glue in cardboard boxes, and that you should not put cardboard up in the attic. Can anyone confirm this about roaches eating glue? I hate to put all the Christmas boxes in big black plastic bags if it is not necessary. I would use tubs, but lots of my items don't fit into plastic tubs. I would appreciate some feedback on the best way to store items in the attic attic (mostly Christmas). Thanks in advance.

I have lived here almost 4 years, and have never seen a roach. What do others have to say???

I have not seen one either. i'm afraid if I did see one I would have to leave, because there is NEVER just one.

The next roach I see in my attic will be the first.

When we moved in we had to battle Palmetto Bugs or AKA Brazillian Cockroaches. Seems they were homesteading in the vacant house. It was a series of battles won eventually by the superior armorment and airpower of Massesy. They can be beat but it takes some effort and time. Now we shouldn't have any return as Masey treats the exterior every 3 months and the interior once a year

BTW we use tape on the boxes so don't have any glue.....

roaches over easy in a light butter sauce. then serve on your favorite pasta.

You have lived in Florida for four years and you haven't seen a roach? Have you seen a palmetto bug or a water bug?

Me either, or a palmetto bug in the house or anywhere, or a mouse, or a rat. Or a snake and I hope to keep it that way.

Just pay Massey or Dean and you protect yourself and your neighbors too from those bugs. We are one sprayin' community here.

I vote for those plastic containers in the attic.

yes palmetto bugs abound, but if you have proper pest control service they are not a problem.

Be aware that boxes/bags from stores/restaurants/etc may contain roaches or larvae....but here again if serviced properly for pests they do not get far...for very long.

Skyguy your a hoot. When I first thought of moving to Florida all I could think about was the bugs and specifically the roaches. Not use to seeing roaches. So I often wondered how everyone seems to get from day to day without roaches or bugs in their homes? When doing research on Florida, it seemed that many warned about the excessive amount of bugs and snakes and roaches. It's such a relief to hear that many of you do not have any experience with these critters. I guess if you treat your home properly with spraying then all will be good. Whew! I'm so glad I won't have to turn around every corner and see a critter.

I lived in South Florida forty years ago and the popular thinking was that everybody had roaches, rich or poor. Depends on how many you have if you will actually see them. If you start seeing roaches regularly, you probably have infestation. Back then, if we opened any food (box of cereal etc) you kept it in the refrigerator. If the roaches didn't have easy access to food, they would go somewhere else.
