Gods Waiting Room

I was at my local dealership up here and the manager was enjoying the pics I was showing him on-line from the Villages. Also the Village Web site etc.

He was getting ready to head to Daytona and wanted to visit TV while on his week vacation

All was good and he was excited for our upcoming move in June

Then it happened AGAIN! A nosy customer looked over our shoulders and stated. "Ohhhh your leaving NY just to go to Florida. God's waiting Room!"

Does this make any one of you guys upset like it gets to me!

What the Heck I said. Can you please explain the difference of waiting to die in NY vs Florida. Your still going to die some day.

Gosh I'm tired of hearing this from ignorant people. Your thoughts?

Some people just think it is hilarious to refer to Florida as "God's Waiting Room :blahblahblah:." That "joke" has cobwebs on it. Everyone has to spend their golden years somewhere. I'd rather do it here in the sunshine then in New York!

Believe it or not, that's the first time I heard that expression. Anyway, perhaps the response to that jealous person could be... "It's not a waiting room here on earth, but rather it's a little peice of heaven here on earth!"

As Gracie has told me I'm quite in mellow retirement mode yet. Told the *@$%^* I have seen 70+ year olds in Fla playing gold working out having fun and still that could kick his butt.!

Aghhhhhhhh

It's all about getting acclimated for that big Final Trip. In TV you're learning to live in Heaven; in NY, you're already living....um.......elsewhere.....less heavenly.

Based on 25 yrs in Upstate NY and 2.5 months in FL......

Let it go!

It is just a joke! Being 58 years old and meeting my new Doctor, he told me I was just a "kid" down here. In De they called me "old fart".:a040:

A couple from the Villages pass and go up to heaven.

St. Peter meets them at the Pearly Gates. He asks the couple, "Where are you from?".

The couple replies with enthusiasm, "The Villages, Florida".

St. Peter replies, "I don't think you are going to like it here!".

I say if Florida is Heaven's waiting room, I hope I wait here in The Villages at least another 25 years!

CarGuys, just so that you know:

"There is no cure for stupid, but ignorance can be fixed."

All that person needed was a little educating on how nice it is living down this way.

Welcome to TV and have lots of fun. I am.

Ditto

I used to be from NY now I'm from TV. I have to wait for the next move and I'm in the best damn place there is to wait. Leaving NY was the best thing we did. Never been so relaxed in my life. As others have said my maker can take his time calling me. At least 25 more would be great. Thanks for the GREAT waiting room and our new found friends!! To he-- with the comments!

Vandals

To make matters worse, some vandal slapped an Orangeman decal on ya vehicle:D

Because I'm only 50, I've heard that phrase from lots of my friends and family since my move here. It doesn't bother me in the least. I may be a relative youngster here, but I learned a LONG time ago that I can't control the perceptions, words or thoughts of others so it's pointless to let those things bother me. In the mean time, I concentrate my energy on enjoying it here.

I so relate. A couple of weeks ago there was the joke discussed about a comedian calling us "Death adjacent". I was so hurt and mad.

If we are lucky most of us will grow older, and so will he.

But....if that guy ever visits here, he will soon see how smart we are to live here. Now even forty somethings are trying to move in!

Next week I expect to see a post from someone newly graduating from college who wants to find a job and home here.

We're all waiting....

When you think about it, aren't we all in Gods Waiting Room? It's just that those that choose to wait in TV are waiting with a song in their hearts, sunshine on their face and a spring in their step. I feel I've got a secret just knowing where I'm going to live and others have no idea what it's all about. Most likely, they are closer to the waiting room door than we are....

For me it was 64 years in NY and at the same time I worked for that less heavenly place for more than 30 years. It's called the DMV!

With St. Patrick's Day coming up I'm reminded about an Irish folk song that was written many years ago by the name of "A Little Bit of Heaven." You can click the title to listen to it. It's a beautiful song! If a new version were being written today, it could just as easily be about The Villages in addition to the Irish version!
