I found this in an April 1973 magazine. Looks pretty nice and not a bad price!

Wow. Almost 40 years ago. That was a pretty good investment.

Think it was in Popular Science.

Popular Science - Google Books

Google has scanned in each entire issue of Popular Science & Popular Mechanics magazines from the late 1800's on. Lots of other magazines, including LIFE, as well. All online and searchable.

Midvale- my only question is: is this really the start of The Villages? I seem to remember seeing a number of places called "Orange Blossom" along 441. Any way to check if this particular one is the forerunner?

Anyone know the order in which each of the Villages was built
and approximate year?

Good question.
The name, location & timing seems right. I do know the same place was advertised until at least 1981. Mobile homes with lots were $26, 000 by then.

Howard Schwarz bought out his Orange Blossom Gardens partner in 1983 and brought in Gary Morse.

Harold.

And there is no Pee in Lake Sumter and no apostrophe in Odell...except for some of the signs.

I like correcting people. I am a mother.

Loved it. I printed it and put it up on my fridge just to remind myself that I paid a couple hundred K too much for my house. Of course in 1973 I was about 30, so . . .
