Preferred Care Partners Medicare Advantage Plan
Villagers that subscribe to this plan - any feed back. According to the ads in the Daily Sun it is rated 5 stars. I disagree!! Poor quality of service.

I know some doctors are dropping them as they are overriding the doctor's decisions on necessary medical care and won't cover it

We are new to the plan. The price obviously can't be beat. So far we have only used the vision plan and it turned out the place we went offered a deal that put the frames and lense quite a bit less than the plan offered. Did get the exam covered so can't really complain.

What eye dr did you use?
|
Hubby and I each found a medical dr with the plan which we like.
We have not found a dentist with the plan with whom we can be happy. We are paying for dental care instead. The ins co has dropped the dentist that my hubby liked. Incidentally he had to drive to Tavares to find this dentist. They also dropped the eye dr he liked. He needed a procedure with his eyes and could not get it. That was in Apr. In Aug the eye dr was added back again and now he is going back for that procedure. (a lot of patients complained between Apr and Aug) We were told that AARP is buying them out in Jan and we don't know what to expect at that time. Hubby has a lot of health issues and will probably drop them at that time.(We are not allowed to drop them mid-year.) I am pretty healthy and will see what they have to offer in Jan. Good luck to you-you just never know when the ins co will drop your dr cold turkey! Also the drs offices complain about the rules that we have to abide by with PCP. |
My husband has been on Preferred Care Partners 2 years, and I have been on it one year. We've had no complaints at all. Husband had surgery this year. Didn't pay for a thing.

It is United Health Care that acquired Preferred Care Partners in June as reported here. So far, no news of any coverage changes to the Preferred care plans. |
We have the Gold Plan with Preferred Care and we've liked it! I've seen the dentist off from Old Camp Rd. and we both have been to the eye doctor as well (me twice). So far no complaints as my primary was in their system. I haven't heard (other than Mid-FL Eye, but now they're back) any doctor's dropping them. Time will tell after that "event" that takes place this fall.

Mid Florida Eye on HWY 441, north of TV. They were off for awhile and now back with PCP. Our Primary doc was dropped as of 10-1. He had 300 PCP pts. Would imagine that will put quite a load on the remaining PCP docs in the area. When the insurance drops these providers I never read an explanation as to why. Same with denials for services - no rationale is given.

I have used Dr. Fisher as dentist and have not had a problem.
Had eye exam at Walmart by an optometrist. They had more digital equipment to make an exam than most doctor's offices - no need to dilate eyes with their equipment. They will send you to an opthamologist if they see something wrong. Just had hospital stay of 5 days with pneumonia. $50.00 co pay per day. They wanted to keep me an extra day to do a cat scan, but I said I could get that done at my primary care office. They denied the cat scan. Dr. said they are just about refusing all requests since being bought out by United Health Care. Will have to see what they offer next year. |
