So where do walkers walk ?

I have been spying on you all with my drone, and I see you-have no sidewalks in your neighborhoods. I am a big walker. Me and my non pooping dogs. And now I read you have a few golf carts that are weaponized . If I take a clip from a cart for walking in the wrong place with my bones I will crack like a egg. What area is good for the walker. 2-5 miles a day.

Depends where you live!

If you live on the north side of 466 you will walk on the nice quiet back roads and your neighbors will wave "good morning" to you. There is absolutely no need to walk the golf cart path on B.Vista, there are plenty of quiet places to walk; and if you walk at the same time every day you will end up meeting the same people and gradually get to know your fellow walkers and their dogs. I didn't walk for a couple of weeks, when I got back out there people actually stopped and asked if I was OK!

Some places do have sidewalks. But wherever you choose to walk PLEASE walk FACING traffic ! There is nothing more dangerous than walking in the same direction as the traffic be it cars, bikes and carts. You need to see and hear who is about to hit you so you can take action.

A "non pooping dog"??? I want one

We would not want you to crack like an egg. Or your non pooping dogs. You might want to drive to the Springdale Walking Trail and walk there. (North/west quadrant). Get your drone to check it you for you. ;)

You have a VERY valid post. I drive a car..I drive a golf cart..I am a walker and have been a very serious cyclist. Here is what I have learned.. Car drivers hate the carts...the cart drivers hate the cyclist..the cyclist hate the walkers..the walkers hate the dog poop...the dogs hate being on a leash. The moral of my story is we ALL need to relax and be more tolerate. As I always say...SHARE THE ROAD....it's the law. Walk wherever you want ..obey normal safety procedures and have a nice day... Those who do not like it"well, they have a problem!

We take cart to Sumpter Landing and do an hour walk around the area. Scenery always nice, and you see plenty of people, situations and then have coffee at Panera. :coolsmiley:

Canal St.

Canal Street is great / safe walking area.

2 1/2 miles from gate at Stillwater to near gate at 466A - all sidewalks, traffic lights at major crossings.

From Canal Street Rec Center:

5+ mile loop
5 3/4 miles Sidewalk and Multi-modal path(no tunnel)
So. On Canal, Left onto Odell,
Right onto MM Path south on Morse
Right onto Odell at Havana.
Right onto Canal, north back to Canal St. Rec Center.

3+ mile loop
3 1/3 miles Sidewalk and Multi-modal path(no tunnel)
So. On Canal, Left onto Odell,
Right onto MM Path south on Morse
Right onto Bonita Blvd.
Right onto Canal, north back to Canal St. Rec Center.

If you want some elevation, Baisley Trail and Bramble Terr in Bonita have several hills off of them - moderate climbs.

Enjoy

I will be down is 2 weeks. Does Panera have a outside area for me and my walking buddy. Or do we have to play blind and go in to get coffee.

I know you can walk on the cart trails but there are many many better and safer places to walk in TV IMHO. Panera (both) have outside tables to eat and drink.

But do they allow pets in the outside eating areas?

Yes, but can you order from outside so you don't have to leave the dog unattended?

Just outside of TV to the south is okahumpka trail. Check that out with your drone. It's very pretty, has measured walking trails, and your non pooping dogs are welcome. actually, even my pooping dog is welcome. But you have to drive there.

Otherwise we walk on sidewalk streets and non-sidewalk neighborhood streets with no problem at all. I like to keep off the busier streets, even with sidewalks, because the traffic makes our dog a bit jittery. But he's fine on Tamarind Grove, which doesn't have as much traffic as St. Charles and BV.

Bonita Loop 2 tunnels
Sea Breeze to Bonita.
Through the tunnel to Bonita and east past the fire station.
Continue up Mount Bonita to Morse.
South on Morse to Havanna.
West back to Sea Breeze

Bonify Loop 6 tunnels
Sea Breeze south to 466a
east on the cart path to Colony
cart path to Havanna
Havanna back to Sea Breeze.

Odell Bailey Trail loop
Sea Breeze to Lake Miona (I short that tunnel)
to Mallory to Havanna to Sea Breeze.

I have done them all and some on an almost daily basis and I have never had any problem with the tunnels but common sense says don't even try the Lake Miona tunnel.

You are 100 % right in theory, but imagine this:
A walker that is minding his/her own business walking with back to traffic or on the right side of pathway but with head phones on and head in the clouds. Distracted cart driver runs over the non-attentive walker and kills the walker dead.

I would rather go the extra mile to protect myself than I would want to walk where and how I wanted, but be in the morgue. Laws are guidelines that some of us break on purpose and that some of us just make a mistake and do not follow. I vote for not getting too deep into I GOTS ME RIGHTS.
