New to Talk of The Villages - which village to choose?

Hi. I am Bob. New here thought I would say hello. I live in Ohio and am thinking if making the move to Florida. How would I decide which village to live in??

graciegirl 01-29-2013 11:48 AM

Welcome to you. You are right This IS a great place. Read and see for yourself that we are made up of a huge group of rugged individuals, who are sassy, saucy, spirited, sometimes contrary and mostly fun.

Hurry down.

We will leave the light on for ya.

I'm also new to TOTV although I've lived here now five years. I just recently heard of this site and look forward to checking it out and getting to know the Village characters. Like Gracie said, this is a great place.

Welcome to TOTV. TV is a wonderful place and we can't wait to move (June) into our home. Good luck to you!

Robert:

:welcome: to TOTV. Lots of smart and funny members here that have made TV their home. I'll just say you have to see it to believe it as they are not enough words to decribe how wondeful and beautiful it is.

You might consider doing a lifestyle visit just to check it out.

That is an excellent question, probably with no specific answer. We plan to move to TV in 2013 so we are looking south of 466A, which is the direction of the new building areas. I don't think you can pick a "bad" area.

Most villages are much the same in that they have a mix of all kinds of homes. There are a very few with just Premier homes. People newer to the area are found in newer Villages, like those south of 466a.

Resales sell for about the same price as new homes and often have added features and some payment of the bond.

Most people would say that the village they live in has the warmest and friendliest people with an occasional grouch too.

All villages are close to golf courses and pools and rec centers and some are close to squares but squares are not where you buy groceries and get gas and other things. The retail centers are tucked here and there and most find it convenient to be close to those shopping areas, but others like the not too long ride to get there especially in a golf cart.

You must come down and see. I have lost count as to how many villages we now have but they are all beautiful and pretty much the same.

The village doesn't matter, you just need to find the home you will fall in love with.

We had the same decision to make and not wishing to move around wanted to make our choice carefully. For us the decision making involved the squares. We took a map and looked at where the squares were located. At the time there were only two squares with the third to be built five years down the road. So we positioned ourselves halfway between SS and Brownwood with LSL being about 3 miles away. It takes me about 5 minutes by car to LSL and 12 minutes to SS. Brownwood is about 12-14 minutes as well.

Some of my friends living on the North side don't like coming to the new square because it's a good half hour for them to drive from the North end of the Villages.

So whether t's golf, the squares, shopping or eateries, you might want to do the same thing. Pull out a map, look at the squares and decide according to the activities you most enjoy. If all else fails you can always move from one side to the other.

Good question Robert. If you want a new home, you will need to look at the various Villages not yet completely built out and sold out. There might be a few homes left in St. James and Buttonwood just north of 466A----most of the new homes available will in villages south of 466A and all the way to Brownwood and State Rt. 44. If a resale would be your interest, then any village is a potential option. Come on down---your sales rep. Will be of great help and with no pressure to buy immediately. Talk to residents while you are here. You will find us friendly and helpful. Welcome and good luck.
