Window treatments for sliding glass door
 

I am not loving the previous owner's vertical blinds. The panels keep falling off. Does anyone have a window treatment for the glass door to the lania that you love? Where did you get it?

Don't love the green curtains the previous owners left but they will do for a while
This is a really wide sliding dr and we assume curtains will be pricey
We would love something simple, neutral colr(s) so me too would appreciate ideas

Check into plantation shutters on tracks like the sliders, but with louvers. One of our neighbors have them and they look really nice.

I really love the look of plantation shutters when they are closed, but when they are open, I am afraid that they would obstruct my view.

I had plantation shutters on the sliders in a past home. They were the shoji-type where each panel was on an overhead track. Beautiful with the louvres open or closed, but when you need egress, the louvres must be closed and panels stacked to one side. The patio door frame was enclosed in a shadowbox casing to finish the look.
Here, our lanai doors are often kept open when we are home, so I opted not to use plantation shutters this time.

We presently have a type of woven wood (bamboo). Like the bamboo roman shades, but in a vertical panel that easily slides and hangs nicely. We finished it with a cornice of the same, and carried the woven wood romans through the rest of the room. They were not inexpensive, as they had to be custom sized and ordered, but they were considerably less than plantation shutters (which have a life span of forever, and are well worth the investment)

These woven shades come in different opacities, allowing for as much or as little light coming through the material as you like.
I will say, we do not have pets currently. I am not sure if a heavy weight pooch or climbing kitty would be hard on them around a patio door.

My neighbor opted for fabric panels with very large grommets in the top, hung on a sturdy, fat decorative rod. They slide back and forth easily ( no cords to pull) and compliment her room beautifully. These too, were custom sized.
I know it is more expensive, but aside from the plantations, making the covering extend as tall as possible is the way to go.
I even did that with our shower curtain. A few extra bucks, but the look is worth it. :)

We tried something new from Village Interiors, there are 5 sliding panels (depending upon the size of your doorway) about 2 ft wide that slide across the door on a track, when you open the blinds they stack up on one side and cover maybe 10 inches or less of the lanai door, I understand that you can have them split so they stack on each side if you have lanai doors that stack to both sides. You can pick the material color etc that you want, ours are very neutral, earthy colors.

We bought 4 drape panels from Pottery Barn (off-white) and they look beautiful. The curtain hardware is black with big round finials (from Crate and Barrel). It gives us the full view of our lanai, pool and backyard and it softens the look of the sliders.

I have the verticals and in a word they suck, sticking opening/closing, slats falling off.
A lot of light gets in also.

I plan on building plantain shutters in the future, but want them to open L/R and the slat size needs to small rather than large I think to see out and slide without building out a protruding track system too far.

We just had Gator Blinds install sliding panels. I don't have a pic to post but I will in about a month...

Check out ikea the have sliding panels and the tracks to go with them. Very reasonable and pretty

I bought some for my slider that I really love from Plough and Hearth on line. They are an insulated tab top curtain. They come in two differtent widths so if you have a wide width slider they can fit. I love them but I will say they were tough to iron. I steamed them, dampened them put them thru a rise and ironed damp finally I used spray starch and they look great.

Ikea has long panels that will go from ceiling to floor - one look is to just hang a panel on either side of the doors - the 2 ft sliding panels are at Ikea also - DIY and reasonable - Ikea is in orlando by the Millinium Mall
