Chess, Checkers, Dominos @ Squares!

My son is here visiting and taught us how to play dominos. As we were tooling around in the golf cart he asked why the town squares don't have small tables set up in and around the squares (like at Washington square in NYC) for these games. Think about it, people could bring their own game pieces and enjoy the downtown atmosphere instead of sitting inside a building. I think it's a great idea. How about you? And where whould we go to ask about this?

Does sound like a nice idea, though during the warm season, a nice cool rec center or my house or that of friends, sounds like a more comfortable alternative for me.

That chess park is gorgeous! What a nice space for the community to gather!

Music on the squares is paid for by the merchants. Activities on the squares is controlled by Barbara Vesco (re; lady who cancelled the parades). Doubt if any tables will be set up for games to be played on the squares.

I doubt that would work. They wouldn't be able to put the tables on the sidewalk or the square. Gets too busy with people walking around & dancing.

Probably for the same Washington Square in NYC doesn't have free entertainment every night of the year and we do. They are Washington Square, we are The Villages.

Tables are not a problem for dancers. I have been in many places in Michigan and enjoyed girls dancing on tables.

Sorry, the devil make me say that.

I see a sale on card tables and folding chairs! Might have to keep my fold down golf cart after all! I love the idea.

I've seen some people play cards and games at Sumter by the radio station. There are some picnic tables set up right there outside under the covering overlooking the water. So you have it all, music, shelter and a beautiful view!

I have seen many games played at the tables around the community pools including dominos.

I think that we are on to something here. Some great ideas.
Any ideas as to how we (or who) can move this forward?
