The holdings of the developers.

H. Morse - Executive Profile

It is no secret that The Villages IS the Morse family. But someone help me list all of the entities they own or have recently owned and sold to others.

Here are some they own;

Southern Lifestyles Furniture
Showcase Direct Furniture
Citizens First Bank

I know by doing this I wll get posts from the Morse haters and the Morse lovers and those who are thinking about moving here.

I think there is a better link than above and if anyone can find it...please post it.

I think they own Citizen's First Wholesale Mortgage. IMHO it is a Great company to deal with. A friend's buyer was turned down by B of A and Citizen's closed the deal in two weeks. That is why I like dealing with TV owned entities. Service

Recently sold The Daily Sun and now it is truly the Daily Fun.

Entertainment Department now owned privately.

But this is old news. He appears to be slowly divesting.

I am neither a Morse lover nor a Morse hater.

I am a Morse admirer.

A friend of mine is the nephew of the man who originally owned much of the land which is now The Villages. He was a farmer and a rancher whose family was very influential in Sumter County.

As wealthy and influential as he might have been, he did not have the VISION for the use of the land that the Schwartz/Morse family did.

As I said, I admire the family. I might wish I could have done something similar except for the fact that I am not much motivated by money and I had more fun in the career that I had than I would have had by being in land development.

Having said all that, you might want to look at the web site The Villages Family Company Company Profile - Located in The Villages, FL - H. Gary Morse, Mark G. Morse, John F. Wise which should have much of the information you are looking for. It even has a "connection" feature which shows how various entities are interconnected by ownerships, directorships and other connections.

It also has multiple generations of the Morse family listed.

Happy hunting.

the liquor stores in each of the "Publix" shopping centers.

The list could get very length if we want to include either family members or other "falily" insiders as they are plentiful in what is owned in TV.

For example Janet West's hair salon academy and the 4 or 5 salons around TV.

Or Phil Marquard who now owns TV Daily Sun newspaper.

Barbara Vesco and the entertainment business.

to just name a few.

It is my understanding via a converation with an individual with access that Barb Vesco does not own the entertainment Dept and that the Developer is not happy about how she and her husband have been handling things.
Of course as rumors go here I could be dead wrong.

The issue of importance is not so much what the Developer (Villages of Lake sumter, Inc, et al) owns but the powerful control and influence politically and economically this entity has primarily over Sumter County but also Lake and Marion Counties. You can place a safe bet that it does not inure to residents favor

You mean they'd prefer to have remained in the days of elected politicians managing it as one of the poorest counties in the state instead of one of its most prosperous?

To make it legible, but not necessarily intelligible, you apparently need to click on "Circular View".
