Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

For the last couple of night, we have conducted an unscientific poll in the evening at Spanish Springs (150 people). The question was, "who should be our next president?" 96 said Hillary Clinton. The other 64 were scattered among the other hopefuls. The majority of those supporting Mrs. Clinton said that she has the moral fiber and intelligence to take the country forward. The results surprised us. Based on the results, we assume most Villagers feel the same way.

God help us all if she makes it. I can't imagine her dealing with the leaders in the Middle East, Iran, and the Terrorists. Her husband couldn't do it, so what makes her think she could. It would be like having Bill in office again. Ouch....

Those 90 something people interviewed in town must have been in Katie Belles and had one to many cocktails!

We are up the creek with a broken oar and a hole in the canoe if she gets elected!

God Bless the USA >:(

Please don't assume that most villagers feel the same way. An interesting book to read for all Hillary supporters. Dossier on Hillary Clinton by Amanda Carpenter. I hestitate to post this message as I think talking politics is a subject that can bring on arguments. We all will have to educate ourselves and make our own decision based on how we interpret the information we are given.

There's only one person I'd vote for to be President. Colin Powell. You can have the rest on the list....and Hillary is on the bottom of the list. If that shrew gets elected, we'll truly be up the creek and Bill will be selling autographed paddles on his speaking tour circuit.

We're from New York State, and the people here love her. She's done a wonderful job. Let's face it, anyone would be an improvement over the nincompoop that's in the white house now.

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

Hillary moved to New York ONLY to run for the seat vacated by Daniel Patrick Moynihan who, by the way, was a TRUE New Yorker and her creditials and good works pale in comparison. She ran for office ONLY to advance her own personal political position. If you believe that she has the interest of New Yorkers at heart, you're kidding yourself. If she did have their interest at heart, she would continue her service in the State long enough to do good for the people just as Daniel Patrick did. As a native New Yorker myself, I was astonished that she was elected, but given her opponent at the time, I could understand how this came to be. She isn't as smart as she and the media make her out to be and there are numerous examples of her excerising bad judgement. Example: when first lady, she was assigned the task of revamping our health care system and she adamantly insisted on "closed door" sessions and thought she could actually get away with such folly. This is an example of an "in your face" wielding of power. Example: she is STILL married to a proven philandering cad. Her history indicates strong socialist tendencies (can you say "nanny state") and she vacillates her position on issues depending on the outcome of "strawman" poles rather adhering to deeply held personal principles. I'm reminded of a Groucho Marx phrase where he said ".....and sir those are my principles.....and if you don't like 'em.....well, I have others". This trait is unbecoming of a LEADER........we do not have this now in G.W. Bush and we will not have it if Hillary gets elected. Let's not forget about Vince Foster's "suicide"....and Hillary's control (read cover-up) of that mess....her fingerprints were all over it. Her husband lied to a grand jury, Whitewater......gawd...it goes on ad nauseam. The past of the Clinton's is rife with unsavory stuff. Ask yourself this question, if she was not married to Bill Clinton, could she have achieved on her own, the stature that she now enjoys?

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

;DIt makes me laugh that people blame Hillary for everything from global warming to Vince Foster's suicide. Its sad, really, that men especially are so put off by a powerful woman. If you happened to read her autobiography, which I'm sure you didn't because your mind is obviously closed, you'd see she has spent her life in service to her country in one form or another. Taking a senate seat in NY or any other state, is just a continuation of her public service persona. I personally don't care if she isn't "originally" from NY, as long as she does a good job, which for us upstate NYer's , she has. As far as her being married to a philanderer, who cares? I didn't vote for him because he's true blue to his wife; I voted for him because I thought he'd be the best person for the job. IMHO he was the best president we've had in a long time. I know the economy was in a lot better shape than it is now. As far as our country's position in the international scheme of things, our reputation has certainly gone downhill with Bush and his antics. It will be an uphill battle for the next president no matter who she or he turns out to be.

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

Lil Dancer: I doesn't matter to me one iota that Hillary is a powerful woman. If Condi Rice were running against Hillary, I'd be voting for Condi before I'd vote for most men on both of the major tickets. I mentioned this to my wife WAY before Hillary announced that she was running. Heck, I'd even vote for Geraldine Ferraro if she were running against Hillary. I have read a lot on Hillary as well as others running for the high office....views from both sides of the aisle and views from those that know the woman very very well such as Dick Morris as Orfone mentions. And it was very presumtuous of you to say that I'm not informed on this particular subject. I'm an eclectic sort and I read and evaluate all views pro and con to form my own opinion. Honest debate is beneficial only when the discussion is based on prima facie preponderance of fact. Attacking the credibility of the holder of an opinion is and always will be bad form. It inevitably leads to "name calling" and labeling. Closed mind? Hardly.

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

Let's when a post comes out with something so unfounded and "off the wall" as Hillary being involved in Vince Foster's suicide, a person should expect some comments about their credibility (or lack of.)

JohnZ 06-25-2007 07:30 AM

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

What's so "off-the-wall"? I'm making my assessment by what has been reported. It has nothing to do with my personal credibility. Zogby polls show that 70% of Americans have not accepted the "official" version of the event. All of the country's major reputable newspapers didn't by the story either and still don't. You might try researching and reading on the subject with an "open mind".

Here's an intersting synopsis of the facts. Click on the link if you care to learn.

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

Its hillarious (pun intended) that you would actually quote newsmax.com as some sort of legitmate news source .. NOT... In fact Mediamatters has this to say about Newsmax: NewsMax is a conservative website with a history of publishing attacks on Democrats and providing fawning coverage of Republicans and conservatives. Christopher Ruddy, founder and editor of NewsMax and president and CEO of its corporate parent, NewsMax Media Inc., has written or edited books attacking Bill and Hillary Clinton, including The Strange Death of Vincent Foster: An Investigation (Simon & Schuster, 1997), which even right-wing pundit Ann Coulter dismissed as a "conservative hoax book" debunked by conservatives; Ruddy has used NewsMax resources to assist right-wing smear campaigns against the Clintons. Ruddy has extensive ties to Richard Mellon Scaife, the right-wing Pittsburgh financier who funded the 1990s dirt-digging operation against the Clintons known as the Arkansas Project. Scaife is an investor and the third-largest stockholder of NewsMax; before starting NewsMax, Ruddy was a reporter for the Scaife-owned Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

The problem is that the good Lord didn't see fit to always put oil and gas resources where there are democratic governments.

So, you see, IT IS ALL GOD's FAULT.

I guess Cheney decided that since God messed up by not putting the oil and gas where Cheney wanted it, he (read Halliburton), Dubya and the rest of the crew would change the world.

Well, I'm sure in Cheney's mind, since God made such a huge blunder in putting so much oil under Iraq (which begs the question, why did he so much oil under Pennsylvania and Texas?) he did his penance by seeing to it that Cheney became vice president of a rich and powerful country.

So, obviously, God made his atonement.

This situation has the side benefit of making a very rich company called Hallibirton even richer. Need I mention the BILLIONS (yes that’s billions) that Dicky-Do’s company is reaping in our ill-fated Iraqi rebuilding efforts. A company now based in Dubai, >>>NOT<<< the United States of American. Must be something wrong with the oversight they get here in the good old USofA. Yes, our hard earned tax dollars are actually rebuilding a county that we have single-handedly succeeded in nearly destroying.
A country that never asked us to invade them.
A country that had NO, I repeat, NO WMD’s.
A country in which we now need approval of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of Iraq BEFORE we attempt to make their country safe. A quote from the July 1, 2007 Boston Globe; "The Iraqi government totally rejects US military operations . . . conducted without prior approval from the Iraqi military command," Maliki said in a statement… This from a government that can’t even hold session for fear of being blow to bits by the numerous warring factions within their own borders.

One can only hop God has a special place reserved for Mr. Cheney, Dubya, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, Connie Rice and the rest of the Boob-Crew. They’re certainly going to need all of God’s assistance when it’s their turn to meet their maker.

I think I can safely predict that George W. Bush will go down in history as one of the most inept, ill-advised, poorly spoken, undiplomatic, and disasterous presidents of modern times. I wait patiently for him to depart Washington and spend his waning years building his library and let a real leader take over the mess he's left and solve the problems important to Americans, not Iraqi's. If Hillary is the one then so be it.

Bash BUSH?

Why not!!!

He really does have a bull’s-eye on his rear.- BUT - He's such an easy target.

Now we have the Scooter Scooting away from justice fiasco.
Scooter was tried, found guilty, and sentenced in compliance with federal sentencing guidelines - YET - Dubya suddenly woke up in Kennebunkport and decided that the laws don't apply to him or his cronies. Quite frankly, Dubya isn't capable of an original thought like this without Dicky Doo pulling the strings. Dubya, again, wasn't thinking as that would be a stretch for him (can you say Alfred E. Newman).

Dicky Doo made this call - MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THAT!!!! Anyone who thinks differently obviously has their head up their rear-end. Dubya isn't intelligent enough to even understand the ramifications of this decision. Dick is calling the shots and, if anyone out there has even the least bit of interest, this is truly scary. When will this madness end??

Dubya - PLEASE - GO BUILD YOUR LIBRARY OF COLORING BOOKS AND BOOKS WITH SINGLE SILABIC WORDS AND LET A SANE LEADER FIX THE MESS YOU (AND YOUR CREW) HAVE LEFT US.

BE IT HILLARY, A REPUBLICAN, A DEMOCRAT, OR AN INDEPENDENT WE SIMPLY MUST END THIS LUNACY.

The constitution demands this???

Re: Hillary is the winner of a poll at Spanish Springs

The far left wingers who seem to love to spew their rubbish on this site ought to take their rubbish elsewhere. Scooter Libby is an issue? What about Sandy Berger? He steals and destroys classified documents from the national archives to cover up Clinton's lack of action on Bin Laden and he gets a slap on the wrist. Where was your outrage about that? What about Mark Rich? What about Clinton's staff trashing the Whitehouse when they left? Where was your outrage about that? No WMDs??? How the do you know that hotrod???? Did the NY Times tell you that or was it Sean Penn or maybe Streisand? There was plenty of time to send them to Syria or God knows where. Every intelligence group in the free world agreed they existed. Where are your facts (facts are not news print) about these billions Halliburton is making in Iraq? Please tell us. I keep hearing from the left about all the money that Cheney and Bush's friends are making in Iraq. Where are the facts? The left wing media in this country have been on a campaign since before Bush was inaugurated to undermine and in some cases destroy the administration, and to accomplish the same objective, they're undermining the war effort.. Where do you think the cowboy designation came from that the foreign media attached to Bush?? It came from our media before he was sworn in. The NY Times publishes information on a secret program to undermine the financial pipeline for the terrorists. Whose side are they on? If the left wingers like the senile Murtha, the incompetent Pelosi, and the enormously popular Harry Reid (Public approval rating of 14%) and their brethren in congress and the god awful left wing media would have gotten behind the president in the war, maybe it could have been a lot further ahead or maybe over with by now. Pelosi goes over to Syria and plays kissy face with them. They have to be laughing themselves silly. When we hear Al-Sadr saying the same garbage our media is, does it enter your mind that they are emboldening the enemy?? If we had today's media and the current far left liberals during WWII, we'd either be dead or speaking Japanese or German depending on which side of the country we live in. We have Edwards calling the war on terror a bumper strip war. Tell that to the Brits. By the way, where is all that oil Cheney is pulling out of Iraq? Maybe he's selling it to China, you think? Or maybe storing it at the ranch for future profits. Oh, excuse me I just said a dirty word, profit. Shucks, I said it again. Now the left is trying to shut down talk radio. Nude clubs are protected by the first amendment but talk radio is not? The ACLU sues when a school uses the words Merry Christmas. Where are they now on the Michigan University providing footbaths for the muslims so they can prepare for prayer? I thought prayer in public schools and universities was public enemy number one to the ACLU. I guess that's only for Christians. Where is the left leading this country? Looks like down the tubes.
