Zimmerman Verdict

Zimmerman not guilty. Hope there is PEACE.

Congratulations to a fair, reasoning and brave jury!

They got the verdict correct as far as I'm concerned. Never less, George Zimmerman will be punished for the rest of his life for a crime that he did not commit. He and his family will probably be forced to move out of the area and he can expect to be harassed and possibly assaulted until the day he dies.

At least he still breathes.

Wonder WHAT would have happened to both of their lives if this had not occurred?

Would George Zimmerman find someone else to kill? Would Trayvon Martin go on to have a successful career and become a pillar of society?

Most of us THINK we know. We might be surprised, and we might not.

In situations that are very murky as to law and to common sense, we only have our own private opinions and the older we get, and the more we see things happen, the more I trust the wisdom of age.

I know what I think.

You know what you think.

There are no easy answers and exceptions to all of the rules.

Further proof that our criminal justice system cannot be driven by the wants of politicians perpetually running for office and pandering to certain groups whose minds cannot be changed by fact or reality.

Ditto. Our wish as well. Everyone should live in peace and not try to stir up riots and civil discord in the streets, etc.

Or how about, "Get a job"........

For anyone interested, as was my husband....as to how many folks are incarcerated by percentage of the various races in the United States......just type in to your search engine:

"Incarcerated in the United States" Wikipedia.

If you keep scrolling downward there are many graphs showing who exactly is in jail...........the percentage etc. Also, info on prisons....

Or, type in "What percentage of black males are in prison"
Wikipedia will automatically come up.......

No one wants to hear it, but we've had a recent insurgence of city gangs who have come up to our little town to sell drugs......hook up with dumb young gals, move in with them and do their business. The police have cracked down on a large number of them.

Just the other day, one came up from the city to Albany, N.Y. where he got a taxi cab to our town........a young "on the ball" cop noticed something wrong with the taxi's sticker..........and investigated. The cab had been told to pull into our local Chinese restaurant's parking lot which is where the cop apprehended a large amount of HEROIN. The city gang member is arrested under a huge bail............no need to profile them. You can see them.

No one in this town was ever afraid to walk the streets when we were raising our family. All the police, detectives, F.B.I. in Vermont know they are coming up from the cities to sell drugs up here...........where they stand out in a crowd, let's just say.

IMO the only people that will be interested in George Zimmerman a few weeks from now will be the same people that read The Enquirer. Although his attorney did say, in a televised interview, that Zimmerman receives threats and would have to stay in hiding "from those on the fringes". O'Mara said he has also received threats.

Hopefully, Zimmerman's employer will give him his old job back, and he can get back to his old life.

My take on questions 1 and 2 in your post.

1) No! My best guess is that he would have continued with his unassuming life.
2) No! In fact if he hadn't been suspended from School three times (Pot possession and possession of burglary tools and thrown out of his Mother's house in Miami his chances for being a pillar of society might have increased to low rather than no likelihood.

The one fact that swayed me into the Zimmerman corner was that who had all the wounds? Zimmerman was covered with them and Martin had none. It's just common sense. I do think Zimmerman should have stayed in his car but I believe Martin was a very angry young man to have beaten him up like he did.

Just a couple of question if you can answer them as stated...

1. If you were flat on your back and a person was on top of you punching your face and you had a gun in your hand, what would you do?

2. If you were flat on your back and a person was on top of you punching your face and you had nothing in your hand, what would you do?

Try to be honest.

Here one for ya...

All else being equal if GZ would have shot TM in the leg and he survived, what charges would TM be facing? Aggravated battery?

1. Shoot in the air.

2. Try to throw the person off.

I agree with the Zimmerman jury, however, a 17 year old kid still is dead with parents still grieving. Zimmerman was hardly in the right to use deadly force in this situation. There will probably be a wrongful death suit coming from the family of Trayvon Martin and I hope they get a jury as fair as this one. Doubt if Zimmerman will like that verdict.

Tom Grooms 07-14-2013 12:01 PM

GZ doesn't have any money or assets. If he gets a $10,000,000 judgment against him a $500 bankruptcy will rid him of that debt.
