cost of donuts
I bought two donuts today from Dunkin Donuts in Spanish Springs.I guess it's been a long time since I bought donuts because they were $1.49 each for a total of $3.19.I never realized they were this high priced.I guess I've been living in a cave because the last time I remember buying donuts they were a little under a dollar each.Oh well!

Dunno. I haven't bought or eaten a donut in about 30 years. Don't remember what they cost then. I always liked the donut holes.

I think some prices are due to inflation, and I am somewhat surprised at the cost of everything.
DD muffins cost about $1.53 and would buy one rather than buy two donuts. For the price of two donuts that you mentioned, I would have turned around and gone to a diner and paid a litle extra for two eggs, etc. I have been looking for a water bottle, made from a strong plastic for the gym. I have seen them for about $9.00 or more. When we were kids, they were probably a buck or two, and still made a humongus profit, as they probably cost pennies, for the manufacture to make. Remember, when you could buy a candy bar for a nickel? Today, they cost anywhere from 65 cents to a dollar. I guess I have been, a caveman too!!!! Welcome to 2013!!!! |

You can just about multiply by 10 the prices of things when you were a kid. Think about it: shoes, sunglasses, shaving blades, foam, etc.

The comical part comes when you walk into an antique store and find all kinds of objects that we know and used when we were younger....and look at the prices on the tags.

I haven't purchased a donut in years and that price rather surprises me. I decided to see what that was equivalent to 30 years ago. I used CPI Inflation Calculator and found out it was the same as $.64 in 1983.

How current are this links prices?

.79 each at Publix. But you do not get the variety you get at DD.

when you buy a drink (or anything) at DD, you can fill out a quick on-line survey from the receipt. Then you get a free donut next time you visit. I have dozens of these receipts in my wallet. Not for me... but when I see someone in line with a child or if I feel like offering a free donut, I give them out. It helps justify the cost of my latte - a free donut. It's also a nice way to tell DD that their prices are too high, which I always do. I won't even consider Starbucks for their outrageous latte prices.
