Christmas dinner

I know you have Turkey for dinner on Thanksgiving, but what do you all have for Christmas dinner??
For us in England, it is Turkey, (YUK) I will make 2 meat dishes, turkey for those who like it and an enormous chicken for those who don't :)

Cornish hens. One per person. Yumm!

Sorry, but I don't remember. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Always Ham for Christmas for us.

obxgal 11-30-2013 01:43 PM

Ham, candied sweet potatoes and garlic green beans.

tippyclubb 11-30-2013 01:47 PM

We alternate between prime rib, honey baked ham or stuffed Cornish hens.

A really fine piece of beef - roast, prime rib or something of that nature. Turkey at Thanksgiving, ham at easter and beef for Christmas. It's all the food and family and friends.

We eat cocktail snacks and holiday sweet treats for "Dinner"! We put out a huge spread of things like meatballs, rumacki, small quiches, shrimp, cheese and crackers,Vegetable tray, lots of cookies, yule log cakes, petit fours, lil smokies, and various candies. This way everyone gets their favorites, and you really don't eat to much.

Leg of Lamb imbedded with garlic and sprinkled generously with rosemary and cooked low and slow until tender, served with mashed potatoes and home made yeast rolls and a couple of yummy vegetables and a tradition in our family, a birthday cake for baby Jesus.

Knockwurst, kraut, German potato salad and ham on Christmas Eve. Homemade Potica for Christmas morning, prime rib and lobster tail for dinner.

I usually make a prime rib or seafood combo.

That really sounds like fun

Invite people over for prime rib with all the fix-in's

redwitch 11-30-2013 10:53 PM

"Grazing" food on Christmas Eve -- veggies and dip; cheese platter; small meat platter; deviled eggs.

No real traditions for Christmas -- just a nice family meal with any friends that happened to drop by. My mother would always try to have goose for Christmas Day (not always available). Always a birthday cake or cookie for Jesus.

We like to have pizza, but it's hard to find a place that's open so we usually just stay home and have Spam sandwiches. Nobody ever wants to come to our house for dinner anymore. Odd.
