We'll add our 2 cents worth for The Village Diner in Sp. Springs...near the Ace Hardware . Good food, fast service.

TooJays ha a great breakfast. More than you can eat usually. Hoemmade rye toast. Home fries. Reasonable prices.

IMHO TooJays is one of the best all around restaurants. I've never had anything that disappointed me yet! They are also accommodating catering to special diets and to grandkids' picky choices. The potato cakes are the best...if you haven't tried them you have missed out on a real treat!

Was hoping to keep it a sceret, but now that the "cat's out of the bag", toojays (at both locations) has great corned beef hash. 2 eggs over easy with corned beef hash, whole wheat toast, fruit, coffee, oj and I'm set for the week. It's my fall into excess at the end of the week.
 Love it, Love it, Love it ;D ;D

Went to Toojays for CB hash, it was good, not canned, but I sure would have liked it pan fried golden brown. Think they would if I asked? Potato pancake was great as well as the home fries. Thanks for your suggestions!

Chuck...I like Ikea's Swedish Meatballs for lunch

Being married to a Swede and having a family recipe....they are pretty darn good!

I have been trying to make a pan fried golden brown corned beef hash for a while - even the one out of a can. I have tried different frying pans and different heat levels but cannot get the crispiness my mother made. If anyone knows the secret please let me know.

Re: Best Place for Breakfast

I'm wondering if crispy corned beef hash would result if cooked like crispy hash browned potatoes.

The mistake often made is stirring or flipping too soon or too often and not letting the food actually sit and brown.

When making hash browns, I let the potatoes fry (not really because I use spray oil) for at least 10 minutes (or longer) on medium high heat without turning. When I check the bottoms and see they are crispy brown I flip and wait another 10 minutes or so. It's hard to be that patient but the results are worth the wait.

The key is to wait and flip only once.

Could crusty corned beef hash be treated the same?

I used to broil my corned beef hash in one of those countertop broiler/ovens. It got nice and crispy again flip it just once are the first side and nice and crispy. I have yet to find a place that understands what "crispy" corned beef has is :(
