Generally, you will have a completely different pizza-experience when you eat it right out of the oven, or when you take it home. For example, Giovanni's is acceptable when you eat there but tastes like cardboard when you take it home. We're happy with Bravo's but we often pop it in the oven for 10 minutes if we're taking it out.

When I get a to-go pizza at Bravo's I have them cook it only half way and not slice it. When I get home I fire up the grill for indirect cooking and throw it on the grill away from the burner. It takes 5 minutes to cook and you can add your own toppings if you want to.

SoccerCoach 06-17-2013 02:17 PM

Everyone's tastes are different, that being said, try them all. Giovanni's a full service Italian dining eatery is worth a try. Moderately priced, fast, pleasant service. Always a smile on the staff.

georgeges 06-18-2013 01:45 PM

I agree with the assessment that taste in pizza is subjective, very subjective! Being from the NYC suburbs, that's what I look for in a pizza. Bravo was pretty good, but it seems they've lost their touch recently. Had a great pizza at Luigini's in Spanish Springs just last week that was probably the best I've had in Florida. Have yet to try NYPD, but it sounds like I should... soon.

gatherer47 06-18-2013 02:27 PM

I miss my Augustine's pizza from New Castle,Pa and my Pizza Joe's homestyle pizza.Pizza Joe's did have a shop somewhere down here in Florida but the owner moved back north.

benj 06-18-2013 08:51 PM

Went to tierra del sol tonight had a terrible experience. The service was bad, the pizza had no taste and was expensive plus we were there two hours since they burnt the first one so bad. Had chicken tenders for appetizer got 6 pieces barley better than mickey d's. The bill was over thirty bucks, never again.

bachfan 07-05-2013 08:40 PM

If you ever go up to Ocala try The Blue Highway. They are on Silver springs Blvd. The pizza is awesome. My all time fav is Mack and Manco in Ocean City NJ,if you ever get there. Anthony's Coal Fired pizza in Orlando is also amazing. I am crazy for pizza and will drive anywhere for great pizza.

bachfan 07-05-2013 08:47 PM

Forgot a really good frozen pizza which sounds crazy but Home Run Inn cheese pizza is excellent and I have never had a frozen pizza I liked but this one is a wonderful surprise.

villager1 07-09-2013 06:16 PM

Try NY pizza up on 466 close to Walmart

Vinny 07-09-2013 07:23 PM

Agree.

PaPaLarry 07-09-2013 07:55 PM

Belleview Pizza is my Number 1 choice for pizza in our area. They are closed on Mondays and they don't take credit cards, but boy is it always busy. That crust is to die for!!! No one is even close in The Villages. Yummy!! (of course, only my opinion) I know the thread did say, Best Pizza within The Villages!

BeetleBailey 08-04-2013 11:06 AM

Another vote for Belleview Pizza! We've been here 10 years and it's still our favorite.

Hungry Howies in Wildwood is good and the price is right and they deliver.

I only like Margherita pizza; ie; san marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, on a thin crust and well done. For that, Flippers gets a #1 from me. NYPD #2, because their sauce was too sweet for my liking. Most pizza here in Fl. tops their Margherita pizza with raw tomato and that to me is not goo. Pizza is a matter of what we grew up with.....I can remember eating a thick crust with just sauce and grated cheese called
:kiss::kiss: A'Pizz.

Makes me happy I haven't been back there since they deep fried my meatloaf after waiting for 45 min. for it.....

REDCART 08-04-2013 02:45 PM

Pi on the Square in Ocala has the best pizza in the area, and an equally great selection of microbrew beers. Pi on Broadway - Where great beer and great food are a way of life.Pi on Broadway

However, if you're ever in New York City, Mezza Luna on Arthur Ave in the Bronx has even better pizza, IMHO.

As others have said, pizza is highly subjective. In TV, we think Bravo's is far superior to NYPD Pizza and Giovanni's.

Another vote for Mallory's pizza!!!

Toscani's is my choice. I used to like Snappy's but they got rid of the two mediums on Tuesday special. If they still had it I would go for them.

My vote is for Flippers in Spanish Springs. They use all fresh ingredients and make their dough there fresh every day. They also have a great lunch special for only $6.99, which includes a pizza or a specialty sandwich and a soft drink. In my opinion, this is the highest quality and best tasting pizza in The Villages, and the price is very reasonable with great service.

JeffAVEWS 08-17-2013 01:24 PM

I like thin crust with mild Italian Sausage and lots of Cheese. Try the Windy City Special at Flippers

New place!

SammyJoes Pizza.
On 441 just south of 466.
Used to be Pepperoni Fu's, Bravo Pizza & The Pizza Man.

SammyJoes is run by the same people that run SonRise Cafe in Southern Trace.

Had a thin crust pepperoni today and I thought it was pretty good.
Not on TV property but I'll go back just because I like a change once in a while.

Was looking for recommendations for the Best Pizza located within The Villages.

Yesterday we took takeout from Bravo Pizza located at Lake Sumter. Large cheese pizza was $ 14.50 with each additional topping $3.00.

Would be interested in hearing everyone's recommendation.

Giovanni's is the best pizza in TV, also a good one is Flippers

Jwatk 08-29-2013 10:44 PM

We like Flippers or NYPD. Heard Mallory has good pizza, but never went there

Celauf 08-30-2013 07:29 AM

Try Sammy Joe's, they are new. Located in Lake Lake but deliver.

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 10-02-2013 04:12 PM

Just outside the bubble, Little Joey's Italian restaurant. The best pizza that I've had around here.

Hello, Look at my recent posting in the " Restaurant " section of TOTV regarding NYPD Pizza. I have to say it was my honest opinion of the Pizza. They ( NYPD) Claim and Advertise as a " Taste Of New York " is really a Joke.

You I am certain you will try what they offer, however the overall opinions agreed with me, they serve nothing more than ordinary, run of the mill pizza that is very bland, skimpy toppings, and Boring. It is a typical franchise establishment that serves exactly what the measurements call for. I would make a pretty good guess that all of the ingredients for the toppings are shipped in from a central distribution point.

The annoying part of NYPD is that they advertise as a " Taste of New York " when in fact they are no different then any other chain such as Pizza Hut, Papa Johns etc. only much much smaller. Their pizza reminds me of pizza that is available in every airline terminal...Period ...

What one reply did mention is this: Their is a decent Chinese Take a Way near by, so all is not lost. My next stop for pizza is Flippers @ Spanish Springs.. Bravo @ Sumter Landing is fair with kind of a zing to it. Other than that make your own.

One last comment I find it really odd that all of a sudden NYPD is getting a thumbs up....hmmmm Hanky Panky ???

shrink 10-07-2013 06:45 PM

Tierra del Sol definitely gets our vote. It's not bargain priced, but it is worth every penny!

buggyone 10-07-2013 06:52 PM

I really like the pizza at both Mallory Hill and at Cane Garden.

Absolutely worst pizza is Hungry Howie. The worst used to be CiCi's at Colony but fortunately he went out of business.

onslowe 10-07-2013 07:54 PM

Flippers is wonderful. I've been in TV only ten months. I've had Flippers a dozen times - always wonderful. And they deliver to the 'north woods' up in Woodbury.

I grew up in NYC. I had great, and good and atrocious pizza there.

Gotta try Belleview Pizza. Haven't been up there yet.

golf2140 10-07-2013 09:26 PM

Tierra Del Sol is the best in my opinion!

Wow interesting choices for pizza! Pizza is definitely a matter of taste and preference!
I lived in and around Chicago all my life till moving here 12 years ago. No pizza around here has come close to what I am used to. Tried Belleview Pizza and thought it was pretty good, not great. Flippers gets a thumbs up for a nice thin crust and very fresh ingredients. Did not like Bravo especially for their price. Never liked Paulies never understood what people raved about. Toscanis is ok. Haven't tried NYPD Pizza , Giovannis is ok. Will give Legends a try. My very favorite that we discovered too late a they sold a year later was Phils in Belleview awesome food and pizza for Florida anyway. LOL Unfortunately I have found some frozen pizzas as good as any around here for 1/4 the price LOL Very sad. My favorite in Chicago was Gino's East and a place on Archer Ave called Chessdans Pizza (not sure of that spelling been a few years) but then it was hard to find a bad pizza in Chicago Some of the Mom and Pop ones were the very best like Alex and Aldo's in LaGrange Park. So that said still on a search for a really great pizza same goes for Chinese (not Asian fushian) plain old good Chinese! LOL

rdhdeleo, For a nominal fee, I will stop at the Gino's East on Higgins Road near O'Hare on my way to the airport on Friday to pick up a couple of pizzas for you :). Gino's East does have very good pizza. Not quite as good as my personal favorite, Lou Malnati's, but still very good.

Either Gino's East or Lou Malnati's would do quite well if they opened in TV. :icon_hungry:
