Schaumburger there you go teasing again!!! Not nice! LOL Don't get me wrong Lou Malnati's is awesome also! When I lived in Arlington Hgts. I loved a little Italian owned place called Scipios! awesome Italian food mostly take out but I lived right around the corner from it. They closed and in the same strip mall opened up Marino's...omg best Italian food and pizza outside of Little Italy! I too agree either place should come to TV!
We love Giovanni's! They are very generous with the pizza toppings. Been getting takeout for 8 years and never disappointed. Highly recommend!!!

Giovannis is in the same plaza as the Publix off of 466. Just at the other end of it.
3439 Wedgewood Lane. They do make a nice antipasto salad!

Interesting comments from Pizza Lovers. Reading through the posts I've come to the conclusion that Pizza is a personal preference with many varied opinions.
Keep the comments coming as this is enjoyable reading. |
NYPD Pizza not even close to NY Pizza (Bronx, Bklyn, LI)
Just tried little Joey's last night. It is outside the bubble on 441 in Baylee plaza. Pizza was good. We had a medium pizza with three toppings and two sodas and it came to 18.00 and some change. Another good pizza place is stavro's pizza in fruit land park on 441

I'm a New Yorker and having grown up on L.I., lived in NYC and NJ I do not think NYPD pizza is anything like what you get in the NY metro area. |
I really don't like the pizza at NYPD.

Best Pizza Up-Date: I ordered from Flipper's a large pizza on Saturday 10/12/13 for take out here is the result.
1) Large Pizza combination of hot/mild sausage, pepperoni, cost $ 22.32 it came with cheese. Excellent and the ingredients were fresh. So in my humble Pizza ratings are. 1) Flipper's Spanish Springs Town Square..Excellent, and will go back to try something different. 2) Bravo Sumter Landing.. Good, $$ is comparable to Flipper's, spicy, good crust, not bad. 0) NYPD CR 466 Yes ZERO not a typo. They should be arrested for claiming to be "A Taste of New York " . |
Keep the comments and opinions coming as this is extremely helpful.

Back home where we're from they make linguica pizza which is a very tasty topping to a pizza........here in The Villages I understand that City Fire offers a chourico pizza. Has anyone tried it?.......comments?
wow...that is alot...thanks for the info..one place to avoid...where else is there pizza in the villages??? i have to bring 3-4 to a prty....where can i get them ????
We love the pizza at Tierra Del Sol. It's only available by takeout or in the grill room - not in the restaurant. And it comes with a free custard filled pastry.
Two Choices:
1) Flippers.....Spanish Springs Town Square 2) Bravos......Lake Sumter Landing Honestly they really are your only choices, both have seating and pricing is pretty much the same at each place. All the rest of them are a roll of the dice, read the comments and take heed, if you choose other than the above two....Bring Your Rabbits Foot. |
Just had the margherita pizza with prosciutto at Mezza Luna, the new Italian restaurant in colony plaza. It was delicious!
We love Giovanni's on 466. Always get a great piazza with lots of toppings. We used to get takeout from Bravo's but has been very disappointing lately.
Agree, NYPD is very good. In fact all the food there is good, not just the pizza.

Tierra del Sol has great pizza in the grill room or to go.
Another vote for mezza luna

It really is amusing to me on how much individual taste vary with Italian food (Pizza) in this case. To say that or recommend some of the places to go for acceptable pizza is mind boggling. So with that in mind all I have to say is " Learn The Hard Way " or the easy way and go with my recommendations. That way you can leave your " Rabbit " at home.
I think I never could answer that basic question because I think everybody has an own special taste in case of a good pizza. Thin or thick crust, topping??? I would recommend going to each pizzeria around TV and test it for yourself.
Great comments that will be useful and beneficial to the many pizza lovers here in The Villages...........keep posting.
Tierra de sol , by far !!!!!!
there is no good pizza here. we should just stop looking.

Seriously, it's surprises me this hasn't been mentioned yet in a TOTV posting, but the Snappy Tomato is now Mario's. They had an ad in the November 'Paper Net' issue that was inserted in the Sun. This prompted us to have a pizza delivered from them for dinner and I have to say that in my opinion it was very good. Had it light on sauce and cheese with mushrooms and sausage added. Two guesses where we're ordering pizza from next time? First guess doesn't count! :clap2: |
I bought a pizza from Bravo's that I thought was good.
I really don't have a desriminate palate when it comes to pizza or anything else ecept mayo, coconut, and hotly spiced dishes. |

Flippers and Mallory
We agree, NYPD pizza. The other items on the menu are good also. Love the meatballs!
NYPD PIZZA on 466 in front of Walmart.
Looks like its Flippers vs. NYPD......though there appear to be many that do not favor NYPD.
Will have to add Cane to next summary of results. Keep the opinions coming.......!!! |
