Thanks, I've got to try that!

Why is that old people feel a need to whine and complain and bad mouth everything under the sun? This thread started off with a positive comments about Rae Rae's for breakfast and then the negative opinions about another business starts. Whatever ...

Depends on if you want golf cart access or are willing to take the car. My top places are outside TV and they are Rae Rae's, KeKe's and Blooms. Haven't been to Billy's in a couple years but don't know why. Darrel's is ok in TV, usual fare, nothing special and inexpensive and it's relative close to me. I try to avoid the chains because they are way too controlled to meet their National standard. If I had to rank the chains it would be Bob Evans, iHop (not the one on 466 though), Perkins and the order depends on the day. All, just my opinion.

Hands down, we love Billy's Cafe. If you love hash browns, you must try Billy's but be prepared, it takes up half the plate and is pile high
Billy's is on 441 just north of Buenos Aires but south of Walmart.

Try Son Rise Cafe in Southern Trace just behind the Shell station.

Ya got that right! Hands down some of the best omelets and home fried potatoes.:agree:

I've been to Billy's and Son Rise. Both have very good breakfasts.

Went to Rae Rae's and the owner/manager checked on us and brought us FREE cinnamon rolls and brownies. Now that is service.

tuccillo 08-30-2017 07:09 PM

Yes, they are very good - I enjoy going there.

my friend and I eat at the ever EXCELLENT Rae's once a month, or more. Our server, Jessica is always cheerful and obliging to our little order quirks. BIG food. We order, and also request a small take out box at the same time. The signature blueberry muffins/biscuit are DEEEEELISH.

We are just north of 466. We alternate between Sonrise and Lil Bits. Both are great after church on Sunday.

There Are Differences . . .

Well, my previous comment to you was deleted, so I'll try again.

Portion control refers to the size of one item, not the amount of different items on a plate.

I guess you didn't see where I did say that I wouldn't be going back to Darrell's ever again.
And why do I think anyone values my opinion?
Well, certainly no more than your opinion!

Here are the reasons that Darrell's is so ordinary or mediocre:

Anyone can make normal type eggs; it's difficult to kill them.
Their potatoes come frozen -- straight out of a bag and thrown on a grille. Worse than mediocre.
Regardless of the type of bread -- white, wheat, rye -- they all taste the same as cheap white bread.
Sausage or bacon? Nothing to write home about.

Rae Rae's? They actually "prepare" food and with added ingredients.
THAT is the difference between Darrell's and Rae Rae's!
I doubt that you would find anyone who would say there isn't a difference.

The best thing you can say about Darrell's is that you can get there by golf cart and can't to Rae Rae's. Same for Billy's, which is also good.

Okay. I'll make it short and sweet.

Darrell's, as restaurants go, is mediocre at best. They get a very fair price for mediocre.
I wasn't speaking about a total breakfast, and I think you understood that.
Portion control relates to the size of a singular food, not a plateful of five items!

Having gone there only a couple of times, (and never again), has nothing to do with digging a grave with a fork.
Regardless of what you order, what you get can only be considered a meager portion.
You can't even consider this place a diner, if you've ever been to a "real" diner.

Amen! Went once, the smell of grease was a turn-off, and never went again. Not happy with the food, either.

IMHO Darrells is mediocre--at best. Convenient Locations and cart accessible

graciegirl 09-01-2017 07:38 PM

Never been to Darrells. Don't know where it is. Do they have Eggs Benedict and really crispy bacon?
