I don't really like buffets so that is probably why I haven't tried China Buffet.
And the fact that China Buffet is usually almost empty makes me wary.
And also their health violations, scare me. But a new broom sweeps clean. Doesn't it?

Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes the new broom is merely a name change. I don't know if the new broom in this case is a new owner or not. If there are posted health violations, especially if these are new owners, I think that I would stay away at least until they get everything straightened out and pass their health inspection.

You could always try something simple first such as their fried rice and if that doesn't suit your taste, that could be a "leading indicator" that you might not care for the rest of the menu. JMHO.

I think I'll listen to Dr. Boogie and avoid China Buffet ... "worst chinese food I've ever had" doesn't sound promising.
Perhaps there's a good reason there seems to be a lack of customers, and a stale buffet isn't appealing.

Went to Koyame for lunch yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Honey had Chicken Red Curry medium spice and he loved it. I had Szechuan pork, VERY spicy and it was delicious with well-cooked vegetables. Next time I’ll tell them EXTRA spicy as Szechuan should be. Delicious, nonetheless. Also worth mention was the hot and sour soup—very good but I added a healthy extra dose of black pepper.

or Sammy's in Mendham and the Benards Inn in Bedminster

And their current health department score is “A” with a numerical score of 91 out of 100. [emoji106]

They seldom last after the 1st health department report.

So far we have not enjoyed most of the Chinese food we have tried. Looking forward to trying Koyame based upon these comments.

Has anyone tried China Max, a small takeout place next to Five Guys Burgers off of 441 in the Rolling Acres Plaza? Someone told me they advertise as "New York style take out". They are on my list to try next time we are in that area.

I'm a big fan of Cheng's on 466 near Wal-Mart. You get an egg roll with the meal, where the China Gourmet doesn't give you egg rolls ( Same Price) and the flavors of the sauces are much better. Plus they have the REAL Chinese hot mustard if you ask. China Max is my second favorite.

We stayed at Comfort Suites for three weeks in November. We ate a couple of times at China Max.
At the risk of being run out of town on a rail, we preferred the food at Panda Express across 441 from CM.

I will have to try Panda Express. Still not have eaten there but it has been there for a few years at least.

I keep trying China Gourmet at Colony, thinking I might geta better meal. J really wanted Chinese today and wasn't close to Chengs. I ordered Pork Egg Foo Young and Egg Drop soup. It was worse than awful. How can that be? It had no taste whatsoever. The rice was just oily with no garlic and or ginger seasoning, nothing. Egg Foo Young was nothing as well. I am finally giving up on that place. The only thing there that I think has any taste in the General TSO's which may be impossible to make without some sort of taste.

We're fans of China Gourmet but have never tried the Egg Foo Young. That dish is not really Chinese but then a lot of what we see at Chinese restaurants are Americanized. I would suggest you try one of their specialties like the Triple Crown and ask for spicy. It's one of our favorites. By the way, steamed white rice is not usually seasoned.
