If you read the link I posted above you will see that in their taste test they did straight up shots and then mixed vodka drinks. Either way they couldn't tell difference.

Besides, those who like to pay $60 for a pretty vodka bottle are actually amateur snobs.

I hate it when they run out of the little umbrellas to stick in my drink. One would think they would give a discount when that happens, but sadly no.

Or comp my meal !!! :1rotfl::clap2:

It was the same in Michigan.

In the deep South, all soft drinks are called Cokes.

We called the coke type pop, cola, but Coke was Coke. Pop was called what ever flavor it was. ;)

I like vodka as much as the next gay, but I value smoothness, no burn. I also agree that if you mix it with anything then drink the cheapest you can find.

My preference, however is gin and I'm a Bombay guy. If it's good enough for the Queen of England, then darn it, it's good enough for me. Tasty botanicals. Don't, however, care for Bombay Sapphire--don't need the extra proof and it burns.

As long as I'm on my soap box, I like martinis. Asking for a vodka martini or a "hold the vermouth" martini are both oxymorons--just ask for gin or vodka on the rocks.

Gin Guy here..............Not a Sapphire fan, the fruity tastes turn me off. Bombay Dry is much preferred. Try Booth's sometime, I was surprised. There is a Booth's "Sapphire type", not impressed. I don't want my glass to even see the vermouth bottle.

After "diner" drink, so you're saying that after you go to Darrels Diner, you enjoy a $500 Nolet?

I was a vodka drinker for years and only drank Smirnoff's, not because of the taste tests that it won as I started well before those were taken. It is one of the few vodkas that does not give me a headache and I've tried most of them over the years. And yes, I have left restaurants that did not have it or I would just drink water. One that I went to was advertising that they had over 100 brands of vodka, this was around the time that Smirnoff was winning the taste tests and no, they did not have it, I left. When I drink I want to drink whatever I like, same with ordering food. Several times over the years I asked bars if they would start carrying Smirnoff's and at least two of them started and to this day still carry it, very popular brand.
