As far as plenty of restaurants outside the bubble you might be right if you are willing to drive. Very few are close to TV. It's all relative to what you are looking for and how far you are willing to go get it. While you and Chat present yourselves as having better taste and a higher social awareness then others on this forum, I don't believe you are in the majority. Those that you consider not your equals most likely spend more time talking to their servers. This is not a shot, so please don't take it that way, just an observation based on your posts.

Here we go again the bashing of someone you don’t know, and even though we find we live in the friendly home town, you still find that 10% tell you to pack your bags and move out if you do not have the same opinion as theirs, or tell you don’t take it that way(that’s a new one). As to equals I have never MET anyone here who says because you live in this type of house, or dine in this restaurant, you think you are above me or below me, only on TOTV does that happen.

Thank god some don’t know where those you don’t like live, or one might find a mob outside of their door because that person thinks, eats, or looks, differently than you.

When we eat out we spend money in a restaurant that can prepare food well. Not a snob just enjoy fresh well prepared food.
We find a drive to a Disney, Tampa, Ocala or just to go to a Costco not a big deal for us. We both travel for a living so driving is never a big deal. One might find the younger residents leave the bubble more than those who don’t feel comfortable driving.

As to servers we don’t do fast food, so that’s out. As for speaking to servers about how the residents are not tipping how does that conversation start. Hi I am your server, that table only gave me 10% and that table didn’t tip me at all, so what do you want.

so I am wondering that if some only tip 10%, or 15%, have any of you thought maybe that’s all they can afford. Maybe it’s not about the service, or the food, maybe after they pay the bill, that all their budget will allow.

We entertain, sometimes up to 40 people at our home. Conversation is rarely about what size home you live in that’s just rude. It’s mostly about what Village, where did you originate from, can I have the recipe, and I love that vase where did you get it.

I was raised to value the opinion of others, just because One doesn’t have the same opinion, it does not make them evil or better than you. For some its ok to bully someone because there opinions are different.

Me too! And how can you pre-prepare and then freeze a vegetarian ruben? It would be total mush when served.

TooJays | Original Gourmet Deli

I really like Too Jays and some of the hostesses and waitresses there.

We rarely get down to restaurants in the Brownwood area so it might take something special to get us to take a longer drive.

I, for one, wish FMK Restaurant Group well in this venture. Seafood is an underserved commodity in this area. And for those who say TV won't support higher prices, please explain why Bonefish is jammed every night of the week with an average ticket of $30-$40 per person? Before Hemmingway's lost it's key Chef, they had the best fresh seafood menu anywhere around TV and it wasn't $15 per person. Other factors drove them under but they never lacked for customers with that menu. Can't wait for September!

I agree with most of what you've said

As to asking a waiter how they do on tips. DO THEY REALLY EXPECT AN HONEST ANSWER? If, you were to ask me what I have-If, I was to ask any of you what you have-FROM ME YOU WOULD NOT GET THE TRUTH AND I DOUBT ANY OF YOU WOULD SAY THE TRUTH EITHER,

As to disrespecting people who do not share your opinion.

This is indeed great news. As we already see several Villagers will complain about anything. Always focus on the negative.

My Daily Run 03-26-2018 06:34 AM

I think that we should all sit tight and let them open and then have an opinion and if you do or don't like it, it is your personal taste. We all come from different parts of the country and being a New Englander I wish I could go to the boat and buy lobster for $5 bucks like I used to but I have chosen to move here and this is the place that I need to be happy. I happen to love O'Shucks because of their raw oysters and others would not step foot in their parking lot. Yes we all have opinions, likes and dislikes and you may not like their other restaurants but you can't tell me that there is nothing on those menus that you would enjoy. Sometimes we don't give a place a chance. One time and your out. We can't get into Bonefish and we can't get into the Lighthouse so obviously we need a seafood restaurant. Most do use Sysco and to be honest they do have a good product if it is prepared properly. I worked for an upscale caterer and that is what we used. Affordable and a good product and if you want fresh Sockeye Salmon at $15.00 a lb or fresh swordfish at $18.00 a lb or even red snapper and expect to pay $14. or $15. a plate with potato and vegetable you should stick to what you know and not have an opinion on restaurants. Between waste and overhead it is a tough business. Let's give them a chance please....

But WHAT

OhioBuckeye 03-26-2018 07:33 AM

I won't judge it until it opens & I try it. I'm just trying to be fair & not pass judgement on them before they open. In all fairness I'm not big on fish!

Brynnie 03-26-2018 12:56 PM

It's a pity that so many of the restaurants in The Villages are owned by the same people. Even at the "country clubs" the food is mediocre at best, and that's putting it mildly. Same menus, same service, same blah food. Guess that's why Bonefish is always so crowded. People crave something different from the usual "syndicate" fare of restaurants owned by the same family. Just once I'd like to see a really good independent restaurant opened here, like the small establishments opened in Winter Park by REAL trained chefs who know quality fresh ingredients and stylish (not imitative) presentation. I'd rather pay more and get quality, freshly prepared food than pay cheap prices for cheap food. Would a restaurant like that be successful in The Villages?
