That probably depends on who holds the liquor license and what that license dictates.

This is another tempest in a teapot. If they find a person who wants to take the lease, there will be a restaurant and then we all will have the opportunity on this forum to complain about it.

If they do not, there will be a few posters, the same posters that will say that the Morses charge too much rent and take too much of a percentage.

Same old, same old.

Loved the food at OB but hated the stale smell and sticky tables. The restaurant needed to be freshened up several years ago. It's too bad that the renovation only happens when the lease is not renewed. Good luck to Chip, and all the workers that kept OB going.

The comedian Dennis Miller once made an observation about the issue of "taking sides". He said, "I think you're OK, but I'm not so sure about that tribe across the river". Taking sides is a ritual as old as civilization. Happily, people can choose to overcome differences and are culturally richer for it. Sadly, some never do.

To state the obvious,....
 
....the restaurant will be refurbished which will cost a lot of money. And even if it wasn't refurbished, rents tend to go up over long periods of time. But time, together with the refurbishing, will likely bring a hefty increase in the rent. So, diners, hold on to your hats when you see the new menu prices.

OH please. There aren't too many sophisticated things that make a restaurant a restaurant. Even if all of the cookers and coolers and slicers and dicers and dishes were replaced and the place scrubbed over well and repainted and new tables and chairs added, that isn't the biggest price tag in the world. The Morses know how to furbish and refurbish and have a handle on the best prices.

Not to worry. Wait and see. boyhowdy.

The only thing I'll miss is The Silver Lake Salad, the old standby left over from the days of The Silver Lake Club. (Many of you won't have a clue what I'm talking about) Aside from that, the food was mediocre, the service mostly bad and in recent years, the attitude of the Hostesses and Servers had lots of room for improvement. Oh, by the way, the place was filthy and was cited for health infractions many times over the years.

We waited and Chula Vista disappeared and El Santiago is not going to reappear.

Not sure if the Morse's really care on some of these places.

Resturaunts are not here just for our pleasure. They must make a profit. Hopefully it will be refurbished and have a great new chef and the prices will be something we can live with. :pray: BTW, OBH has the greatest pool in all of the Vilages.

I am danged sure they would like to rent them. Caring would be nice, but caring isn't the issue. There is a vacant fast food building in front of Publix in the plaza on 466. I bet they would LOVE to rent that building sitting vacant.

I would guess the rental price is quite affordable by now.

Thank you. As we and other patrons nearly tripped over the broom, long-handle dustpan and the piled and overflowing wastebasket right out in front of the hostess stand one Sunday, the hostess acted like WE were in the way and a nuisance. And all we said was, "Table for two please." She treated us like dirt.....but the place was dirty. And the guy cooking at the omelette/frying station was a loud, obnoxious buffoon, "entertaining" with constant banter and sucking up to his pet patrons. As we sat at the sticky table with sticky chair arms, we said to each other "Never again." And we don't mind going to "folksy" types of restaurants if the place and furnishings are clean and the food is good. There, the buffet food was just mediocre.

It isn't just the The Orange Blossom Country Club has anyone noticed how crumby the rest rooms are in the square.
