what's wrong with that? my guess is that the 'pet patrons' were enjoying themselves and were not of the opinion that the cook was 'a loud, obnoxious buffoon...'

what i don't understand is - if you were so unhappy and upset with the sticky table and dirty restaurant and hostile hostess - why on earth did you not leave rather than not return?

Not sure if the Morse's really care on some of these places.

Boy Howdy!

Also, Silver Lake. That was the first restaurant in The Villages.

So I guess when the Church on The square closes for renovation and expansion we're going to hear the same arguments. The Club will close and be renovated and reopen. If not call the district office and find out why. Start a petition drive if need be. In the 4 years I've been hear I've seen quite a few businesses come and go. I will agree with a few of the posts regarding the condition of some of the other eating establishment and public restrooms in the square being filthy or in need of repair. In case you aren't aware there are forms at EVERY mail station for the CIC, Community Improvement Council. Fill out that form and place it in the CIC box at the mail station. Your complaint will be dealt with and you will get a response back with whatever action will be taken and a time frame for completion. If it's a problem with a restaurant speak with management or the owner if it's not corrected move on. Don't come on hear and beat the drum IF you haven't tried to correct the situation before hand.

The Morses know how to furbish and refurbish and have a handle on the best prices.

Not to worry. Wait and see. boyhowdy.

Rumor has it that the reason OBH Restaurant is closed is that the people you say know how to furbish and refurbish refused Chip's request for them to refurbish. Their response was not to renew the lease. Now they will refurbish and probably run it themselves just like they did at The Lighthouse. And boyhowdy to you, whatever that's supposed to mean.

Does the Morse family own these buildings? If they do, I'm sure that they don't want them to sit empty. What benefit would that be?

I'm sure whoever owns them wants to get them rented out again ASAP.

the credence and credibility given by some to RUMORS is quite amazing!!!

It was mentioned earlier in the thread of the increasing rents over time. All rental contracts contain how much the rent will be over the usual 5 or 10 year peiod. All the commercial rental contracts in TV have the rental terms spelled out by year and are usually 5 or 10 year leases. The costs of operating, especially the fixed costs, like rent are not a surprise.

And when renting you have the opportunity, with the owners agreement to make lease hold improvements...move walls, refurbish, repaint, recarpet, etc. To blame the reason for the current tenant to not renew his lease because TV would not do the refurbish makes no sense at all. It is the responsibility of the tenant to keep their business establishment up to date, clean, etc. Those that don't either don't care or are consciously milking the business. Repair, refurbish, update are all future expenses that business owners factor into the running of and continuing to keep the customer happy.

It is all too easy for some who have this notion that the developer is responsible for business failures here in TV. Truth be known that is not the case at all. It goes back to the tenant and the way they do business or did not do business.

Blaming the developer is a well used cop out.

Yes, the golf course and country club facilities are owned by Morse's Villages Operating Company. So you can rest assured it will reopen after refurbishments are made.

Also keep in mind that the Chula Vista and El Santiago restaurants that were closed were on Village Center Community Development District (VCCDD) amenity supported properties.

Yea Gracie! you always know what to say!

What is so charming about the Villages, there is something here for everyone..

I must say I will miss those yummy sliders at OBH after a round of golf but maybe the new restaurant will have something even better!

We were hungry and it was raining cats and dogs outside. It was Sunday and we didn't want to go somewhere else and stand in line again to be seated. We just wanted to eat and have some coffee, which we did.

Dirty tables and poor service didnt bother Villagers

Well the last night of Orange Blossom Hills country club was a major sell out. A few Villagers on this site were complaining about dirty tables and poor service. You wouldnt know it last night when Chip had a sell out crowd. You think the discounted buffet and 1.00 beer had anything to do with the turn out?

Yes, definitely. The crowd that turned out for the $1.00 beer and the discounted buffet is the same crowd that would have had a FIT if the management had tried to raise revenues enough to refurbish the place.....by raising the food and beverage prices according to rising costs of doing business.

Clientele not wanting to pay needed prices is probably why they can't make the needed changes to stay open and vital!!!

ROCKETMAN 06-10-2013 01:28 PM

My question is i would think the pool is still open with no tiki bar so can you bring your own beverages in like the pool at glenview?

bkcunningham1 06-10-2013 01:39 PM

I just got back home from the Orange Blossom Hills Country Club pool. The pool and hot tub are still opened. You have to use the restrooms at the OBH's golf course's starter shack. We brought in a small cooler with bottled water and some snacks. I saw a few people drinking beer from their coolers. There was someone checking your IDs and he didn't say we couldn't have the coolers. There were only about 15 people when we got there around 11 a.m. and about the same when we left around 1:30 p.m.

I have to say that I am very, very excited about the renovations. I can't wait to see what they do to the place. Living on the historic side, I'm always proud of our pools and rec centers. I think the golf courses are in good shape. The restaurant has always been a sore spot for me. It really needs an facelift. I can't wait to see what they do.

Oh, please??? I stand by my statement.

Not to worry? I'm not worried. Why would I worry? I only ate there once in 14 years because someone invited me. But by the tone of your reply you sound like you mighy be worried. Are you worried that someone might get the wrong idea about what's going to happen?

boyhowdy!!!
