Just an old expression I remember from way back.......hence the quotes when I typed it. A statement basically confirming agreement.

Sorry!

Bill ;)

Awesome, Bill! I know that quote very well! Brings back many memories!

Well said, Gracie!! It doesn't matter whether we live in a Premier home, Designer, Ranch, Villa, Manufactured Home, etc., we all have the same privileges living in TV. That is the beauty of this retirement community!

Very well said, I agree

Most likely he could have stayed but wasn't willing to pay the higher rent. Why would he want to stay and pay a higher rent if he wasn't doing well? If he had a five year lease, for example, it would be time for a rent increase. Rents don't stay the same forever. Couple that with major renovations and it would likely bring a hefty increase in the rent. Any money spent for renovations has to be recovered from the one and only source of income, the customers. Even if the developer can do it cheaply there's no guarantee he will pass the savings on to the next tenant/operator. Why should he? He's in business to make money.

The new operator will have to be someone or some corporation with a proven track record for producing profits. And I can't help but think it will likely mean an increase in menu prices. With the same customer base, they will have to bring in more money to cover the higher rent. That's the way I see it.

If you weren't worried about my post, why did you have such a strong reaction to it?

Sounds like you have a business background, you are very realistic. Most Villagers think if TV wave their magic wand over a project it will be bigger and better. Unfortunately not true on the old (historic) side. Most likely it will be a rec center, like they have done to other locations.

Has any sort of renovation started at Orange Blossom yet?

Nothing has started there yet. I was there swimming this past weekend and there isn't anything happening inside...yet. I'm in agreement with my husband who says it wouldn't make sense to reopen during the down season. It would make more sense for the new management to take their time with the renovations and to reopen the country club when the snowbirds migrate south again.

Midvale 06-24-2013 07:31 PM

I guess that makes sense as long as it and the Tiki Bar DOES reopen!

bkcunningham1 06-24-2013 08:28 PM

I don't know the correct word to use, but it feels "odd" to be there without the tiki bar opened. It is the most beautiful country club pool in TV, but it isn't the same without the restaurant and tiki bar. It seems almost deserted now. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it reopens. I feel confident it will reopen better than ever.

From what I read, OB restaurant closed just a couple weeks ago. It takes a little time to get plans and permits pulled to renovate a building. Everybody needs to have a little patience. Once they get all the necessary county permits, the work will go very quick. Of course, a new lease agreement must be signed---hopefully many of the former employees will get an opportunity to return. No doubt the renovated restaurant will be a great addition to TV and it's residents.
