2. This prompt me to ask, Does the State require inspections results to be posted? If not then they should so that people won't have to wonder what a restaurant's kitchen is like, etc

I am very curious about your comments concerning Giovanni's and Son Rise Cafe given the violations listed from the link posted by TomOB. Giovanni's has 21 violations and Son Rise has 17. In contrast, Cane Garden CC has none. Am I missing something?

Wow, Bravo Pizza with 40 and Waterfront Inn with 25. Watch the supermarkets as I saw the woman in the fish department handle fresh fish and then cooked shrimp without changing her glove. Huge violation!

I'm curious. I am really good friends with Mike and see him quite often. When he was there, we were there 5 - 6 nights a week. I would really like to know when he brought out plenty of free food & platters of free ribs out to the late night crowd. We used to stay there with the managers until midnight.
I'm sure Mike would be curious also to know when he did this.

and there it is again......Human Nature :beer3: Just saying......

:pray:If you saw the kitchen area of ANY food establishment you would probably not want to eat there again no matter what you have thought of them in past visits. Another sight you probably would not want to witness would be in a supermarket's storage areas. As a former firefighter I had to access areas where food is stored and prepared before and after it is put out for sale. However, I believe there health inspectors have allowances to consider. Appearances of clutter and food scraps on the floor don't necessarily mean immediate health risk but how long food is handled and stored before sale is important as well as control of pests.

Bonny, you should write a restaurant blog. I for one would read the hell out of it.

Mea culpa I should have looked them up before I posted. The times I have reviewed the inspections reports they always came away with none?????? surprising is Cane Garden because I believe Cane Garden to be dirty perhaps they cleaned up their act. You didn't mention cody's results?

You also have to read inspections CAREFULLY. Many of the "violations" are often chickens**t write-ups for things like dented cans. It is in violation to have a dented can on the shelf, and inspectors love to write stuff like that up which is not endangering the customers at any level. And while it is illegal to have a dented can on a restaurant shelf it is NOT illegal for places like Publix, WalMart & WD to have dented cans ready for sale on THEIR shelves. In fact if you go to some grocery stores you would think that the management issues mallets to their shelf stockers.

And don't think for a minute that all inspections are "fair & honest". They can be political and sometimes depending on the particular inspector a shakedown of the owner for graft.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't pay attention..but it does mean that you need to really KNOW what the report says.

Cody's

I don't know about their previous inspections, but I do know that we ate there yesterday for lunch and my wife has had symptoms of food poisioning ever since an hour and a half afterwards. I would suggest staying away from the pulled pork there for a while. I don't think we will be back.

NottaVillager 07-14-2014 03:56 PM

Have never gone to the Cody's at LSL as it's always too crowded. When we want to go to Cody's we go to their Ocala location and have never had any problems with eating there.

I have gone to restaurants in the past and got sick. I doubt that it was food poisoning. If your wife got sick, that would mean everyone who ordered it would be sick.
Sometimes what we eat doesn't want to mix with what we ate earlier or it just hit us the wrong way or we just weren't feeling well. Doesn't always mean it's "food poisoning".. Did you contact Codys? Did anyone else complain of being sick that night ?
I love the pulled pork and eat it a lot.

Cody's

Ate there this evening. YIKES, one of us had pulled pork......guess we'll let y'all know in the morning if he survives.

We were there at 8. I'll say one thing...I've never been there that late, so maybe they were doing usual closing stuff, but they were sweeping everything, cleaning all the condiment bottles and tables.

I think the negative comments from TOTV might have come to light because all of the staff seemed to be in a rather crummy mood...maybe just my imagination though. The food was good as usual.

Agree.......claims of food poisoning are way exaggerated. When two or three people in your party claim this then I'll believe it.

Hi Bonny: I like your posts but perhaps you would change your opinion after this short story. A retirement party was organized over 200 people attended.
The following morning half of the party experience severe symptoms creating a need to sit and kneel. an investigation was undertaken and it the source discovered > Half of the attendees had the soup that evening and that was the culprit. Those attending were insurance people and we joked that not one person made a claim against the restaurant.

My friends who stayed at my home nd my wife and me had the soup.

You would be surprised at the number of people who are not even aware that the cause of their illness came from food/drink. In our situation there were so many of us who knew one another comparisons/conversation about illness was available and that is not always the case in these cases

Personal Best Regards
