Very sorry to hear this, love their burgers, grilled chicken and fries.

Hope they come out of this

If they keep getting bankruptcy notices from their customers they will have no choice but to be more accomodating.

Pastrami sandwich

this does not mean the end of TooJay's...this gives them the opportunity to protect themselves from creditors that would force them out of business

now they'll have to restructure and hopefully they will successful emerge from bankruptcy ...it would be a shame if they went under... we never went there much, but ya couldn't beat their pastrami deli sandwiches...I never understood the bakery side of their business and wondered if that was a profit center for them or not

I don’t think you ever had a good pastrami sandwich if you think theirs was the best. Way too much fat. Spoke with manager and he said that was how they receive it. Not a good excuse.

Sorry to hear that. I had stopped going when they kept raising prices and cutting out deals. First of many to come probably

I agree with both. We have gone to Toojays for the last 8 years. They have consistently raised prices and scale down on portions. Quality has been less than I would like. They have continued to take favorite selections off the menu. Don't want them to fail, but they are not what they used to be.

Cody’s carrot cake is better...when/if they reopen.

chapter 11 puts all creditors on hold and cancels all leases

I love it!!! Ma and Pa Schnitzle sell their farm in Gasfart, Ohio and move into a $150,000 villa in The Villages...AND...become a food critic and snob! Want great food?...move to Manhattan and pay five-fold.

And those people/companies that are owed money get nothing

Samfl 04-30-2020 09:00 AM

Yeah TooJay’s was great. Very consistent and friendly. Cody’s was always awful. Ironic

DonnaNi4os 04-30-2020 09:05 AM

I hope that they can re-emerge. I am happy I picked up an order the day before the announcement. They were always one of my favorite spots to go to and relax with friends. Wishing them the best. Their staff consists of real people who are hurting right now. I suspect that they will not be the only place to file for Chapter 11. How sad.

What you are actually saying is that carrot cakes from Sysco are not the same as the ones from Cheney Brothers.

Example of poorly managed company

For a company that has been in the business as long as Toojays, they should not have to file bankrupcy. A well managed company should have enough cash and credit to handle even major problems. Yes pandemics are not expected and are the worst kind of problem, but the fed is also helping to bail companies. Filing this quickly only says they were living day to day and not controlling their business and budgets.

Too Jays

Where else can you get a tongue sandwich? My favorite.
