Ricciardi's in Brownwood along with Hemmingway's areour Saturday Night go-to's
|
We really like Sweet Tomato on 441. It's a soup and salad buffet with lots to choose from. The soups are homemade and delicious and there is homemade bread to accompany the meal. We also love Nancy Lopez and the oven baked pizza at Mallory Square.
|
Here are our favorites for great food at reasonable prices: Giovanni's for (authentic) Italian; Glenview Country Club for the best steaks (always!); Oakwood for ribs; McCall's Tavern for fried chicken (join their free beer club for free beer on the 16th and 26th of each month and free meal on your birthday); Bonefish for seafood; Ruby Tuesdays for a great meal anytime (look for coupons in the paper, mail, and online); Johnny Rockets for sundaes and milk shakes; Ambrosia for ice cream cones ($2.75). Hope this helps. :-) Enjoy!
|
It is a short drive to Ocala, but we found several restaurants worth making the trip for. Harry's New (Orleans type food), Ivy House (great ambiance)and Yummy House (Chinese) were all excellent.
|
For me I like the Chinese Buffet rsetaurant at the Pinellas village, shopping center. Reasonable price and buffet style, good eats. Even has takeout.
|
In no particular order:
1.Cody's on Wednesday, (two for one fajita's). 2. Bonefish on 466. 3. Glenview for lunch. 4. For breakfast, Johnny Rockets for the "village wrap" with bacon and mushrooms. 5. SonRise Cafe for breakfast. Outside TV: 1. Mom and Dad's for spinach lasagna. 2. Oakwood for BBQ ribs. 3. Latinos Y Mas in Ocala for paella. 4. Billy's Cafe for breakfast. 5. Rae Rae's for breakfast. |

I second Goblin Market in Mt. Dora. Pisces Rising in Mt. Dora is also at the top of the list. If you’re a shrimp lover, as my wife and I are, NO PLACE is better than The Freezer (very unique – it doesn’t even have doors on it ) in Homosassa. Also Dan’s Clam Shack, in Homosassa. St John’s on 441 is also a resounding yes, in fact I just ate there since last night.

Pine ridge just past dog park

We enjoyed Bonefish, we like Sonny's and Cody's can be good or not so good, of course, it is all up to the cook for the day.
Have been really disappointed in TooJays lately, no more of that. Honest Johns was so so , guess it was ok but not too good. |
Hemingway's Best for Seafood
Hemingway's beats Bonefish every time for the best seafood in the Villages. We gave up on Bonefish when their quality of their meals and service dropped. Yes, they've got Bang-Bang Shrimp, but We tired of them.
|
Too Jays
two said no to too jays. Which one.
|
We love Cain Garden as far as CC's. Bonefish is excellent. Too Jays at Brownwood. Best Mexican is El Habeneros in Leesburg.
|
One that hasn't been mentioned is The Cotillion on Main in Wildwood. We were very pleased with the food and the service. High end without exorbitant prices. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Look forward to going back.

Any restaurant that doesn't allow pets other than real service dogs

Ribs at Oakwood to die for.
Too bad they quit serving baked potatoes. Told us they couldn't keep up with the demand. Oh what to do? Increase supply? No, easier to serve French fries. |

I don't think you can really go wrong at any of them. I had one semi-dud meal but went back and everything was fine the second time. Mrs. Nucky says I was having a womenopause moment. I really like Riccardi's @ Brownwood. They took care of us on our first night here when nothing else was open, very gracious and what a meal! :mmmm::mmmm::mmmm:

We tried the 2 for 1 shrimp fajitas last night at Cody's. And yes, they were great!
We also stumbled into the Japanese Steakhouse last Saturday and sat at the sushi bar and were surprised at how good the sushi and sashimi were. Adding that to our go-to list. At Too-Jays I tend to get a quart of matzo ball soup for takeout, and that really hits the spot. I also like their chopped liver sandwiches. But somehow takeout there makes me happier than eating in. |
I forgot to add Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn's on 441 if you like steak.
Some say Texas Roadhouse is too noisy for them but I had a steak with mushrooms and onions, that was great!!! Toojay's serves cabbage soup on Wednesday's only. that i really like! |
Basic Dining (good food and a reasonable price): Square 1, Bonefish, Lopez, Hemingways
For fine dining you need to leave The Villages. Our favorites: Chez Vincent, Winter Park; Chef Table's, Winter Garden; Bern's Steak House, Tampa. These are all a bit pricey but well worth the expense. |
My favorite restaurants in TV are Bone Fish, Thai Ruby, and Square 1 (if the last one is in TV). Near TV, I like Chefs of Napoli on 301, Takis on 441, Oakwood on 441, and Stavros on 441.
Fiesta Grande in TV isn't bad, either. The Lighthouse has a great view, and Cody's has good burgers and a view. I wish TV had, near by there were, a PF Chang's, Macaroni Grill, Uno's, and Portillo's. |
In the Tampa and St Petersburg areas, try dining al fresco at the Don Cesar Hotel (St Pete's), the Cassis (Tampa), and in Tampa's Ybor City or St Augustine try the Columbia Restaurant.

Restaurants Villages, etc.
[QUOTE=charmed59;1243802]We are new to the Villages and love eating out. So far our favorites are the Lighthouse Point Bar and Grill and Palmer Legends.
At the Lighthouse we sat outside with an incredible view and had the Seafood grill with shrimp, scallop and haddock with lots of onion strings. All were cooked to perfection. At Palmer Legends we had the petite filet with scallop and shrimp and the special twin lobster tails. All were cooked perfectly. From bbbbbb We like Arnold Palmer, the big salads are great, the salmon is very good. We like the Thai Restaurant on Canal st. We like Sonny's. We get the ribs for two dinner to go, two baked potatoes, later, we slice them and brown them for breakfast. We like the dry rub ribs. We like Perkins for breakfast, the senior menu on the back, specials are really great. Ruby Tuesday in Spanish Springs is awesome, the pork chops and salad bar are fabulous. bbbbbb  |

Bonefish has great bang-bang shrimp. Maybe you can pretend it's lobster. |
