Toojays

Many have said that Toojays has lost it. Can anyone be a little more specific? I used to enjoy the one in Sumter Landing😩

Great Chicago Fire Brewery & Restaurant . . .

Their website has a nice looking selection of Chicago favs - have you been there yet?

Best Food

Cotillion Cafe in Wildwood has been our favorite by far. Great southern cooking. Share the deserts, their fabulous!

earlehancock 12-12-2016 08:51 AM

Red Sauce in Sumter Landing is excellent.

The best Italian food in the Villages is a small one in a strip mall on 466. Minimal atmosphere, GREAT food.
Giovannis on west 466 is owned by genuine Italians who travel back to Italy every year for new ideas.

And for an adventure outside the villages (15 miles or less) try Gator Joes - sit outside on a deck over Lake Wier - for beer and burgers and deep fried alligator - about 50 years old. Lots of non-villager locals.

Too Jays, Ricciardi's Are My Wife And I's Favorite! RJ Gator Also! Still Looking For Good Chinese And A Italian Pastry Shop! Manzetti In Tamper Is A Far Trek And Tarpon Springs For A Greek Fix Is Doable! It Hurts To Be From New York City And Too Freaking Spoiled To Settle!

Chatbrat 12-12-2016 11:12 AM

If you ate on Arthur Ave how could you call Ricciardi's Italian--If you have eaten in Katz's, how can you call Toojays a Deli? If you have eaten in Peter Lugers, how can you call Texas steak house --a steak house?????

twoshea 12-12-2016 11:52 AM

Those are two of our favorites also. The restaurant at Orange Blossom Gardens Country Club is also one of our favorites. Not crowded, informal. Similar atmosphere to The Lighthouse

twoshea 12-12-2016 11:55 AM

In essence have to agree with Chatbrat but not in attitude. TooJays is Ok but not as good as Ben's on LI or any Jewish Deli in NY.

twoshea 12-12-2016 11:57 AM

Great Restaurant. Make reservations. Don't be turned off by area.
Talking about Cotillion

Our very favorite is Honest Johns in Sumter Landing - great food and very inexpensive drink prices. We also like City Fire in Sumter Landing and if you want to drive a ways, Big Bobs on north Highway 25 - excellent Italian food - does not look good from the outside but has a beautiful dining room inside.

Agree with Japanese Steakhouse for great sushi. Also, if you like great Mexican food that is very reasonably priced check out Ay Jalisco in Spanish Springs.

Best lamb in the world at Saeta svinio's, in Reykjavik. Owned/managed by Ingibjorg Hermannsdottir when I was last there. Hmm, hmm good, that's what lambs are.

Given what is pretty obvious of a lot of Villagers, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Golden Corral.

Chatbrat 12-12-2016 07:57 PM

There is a difference between dining & eating out--

There is a real steakhouse in Ocala. Mark's Prime Steakhouse - a true ala carte deal. Pricey but worth it.

Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, Tavares, and Mt Dora are close enough to enjoy. Sooner or later the MMP will take you there. In the meantime, back your gas guzzler out and try them.

Thank you. I've been biting my tongue all this time, hoping someone would bring that up.

Yes, and good detailed information and tips, like who gives discounts, who has wifi, who takes reservations, who owns the place and who is open on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Their search page is ingenious.

Best of all you can rely on the reviews, unlike Yelp where people can post who never entered the restaurant.
