Default Anyone play Touch Tennis?

Have seen times scheduled for Touch Tennis as a couple of rec centers and am not familiar. Anyone play? Have heard you use a racket the same size as a junior racket. True? All the junior rackets I have seen have youth size grips which are not best for someone with larger hands. Any suggestions there?

In my area played at rec center with platform tennis courts. Platform and pickleball dimensions are a same but platforms are caged in so don’t have to chase ball onto other courts. I don’t know if you can play off fence like platform tennis? With junior size racket and different balls? I don’t know about grips you can go to equipment shed and check the grip sizes out. I don’t see too many playing it so I’m sure new players are welcome?

We play touch tennis here at the Richmond platform tennis courts. The ball is very soft like a nerf ball and travels slower. We use youth rackets that were purchased on clearance at Walmart and they did come with a small grip. There is however a store in the Southern Trace shopping plaza called “Softball’s R Game” that will regrip any racket with a larger grip very reasonably.

Rules | touchtennis

Touchtennis is a condensed version of tennis played on a smaller court using foam balls and 21-inch tennis racquets.

It distinguishes itself with a single serve, eliminating the necessity for second serves or lets, and an exclusive scoring system.

Fun, slower game. Played here on the Platform courts to help keep the foam ball from blowing away in the wind.

You do not play the ball off the screens.

Equipment is available at Regional Rec Centers.

go to touchtennis.com for more information. The racquets under the Goat brand all have 3 7/8 handles. The smaller handles are better for the lighter and shorter racquets. I put an overgip on mine. Also, the Goat racquets are designed for adults with longer handles. Come out and play! The group is really fun and friendly!

Where and when does the group you refer to play? It sounds like fun.

I play touch tennis. It is a lot of fun. We only request that you play it as it is meant to be played as a version of tennis NOT pickleball. Meanining not staying close to the net and batting it back and forth. It is meant to use the whole smaller court like tennis. So far it is also a fun not killer competition like a lot of pickleball players. If you are expert pickelball and want to play killer competitive touch tennis because pickelball is too crowded please reconsider coming over to touch tennis. Yes you can be the champion of the court but you will ruin it for everyone else in group. That being said you will be rotated with all levels of players VERY good playing with fast competitive players and NEW ever played racket sports players. As a group the good player adjust game when with new players so everyone has fun. Again not meant to play at net constantly but uSe court like tennis.

The game requires a junior tennis racket and is played with a soft yellow nerf like ball a little larger than a tennis ball on a platform tennis court. The "walls" of the court are not in play.
