Default World geography question

Without looking at a map, how many people can identify Botswana on a map of the world?

Easy, no problem (of course I’m leaving in 3 weeks to go there on safari)

That sorta sounds like a game of pin the tail on the donkey.

Could you have done it before booking the trip?

If you had a map of Africa, with the country borders marked out but no names, I would think 99% of Americans could not pick 10 of the 54 countries.

When I was in school could have identified most African countries but they have mostly changed names since and I have not kept up with their names

Challenge accepted.

I wasn't sure which one Botswana was (I think one of the two right above South Africa), but I'm pretty sure the ones I filled in are correct. Got over 20. Not bad for an old f*rt.

No, but I was considering flying back with an emotional support elephant. Then I'll bring it to stores and restaurants with me, assuming I can buy a large enough "service animal" vest online.

And Zimbabwe was Rhodesia. If you go back far enough Ethiopia was Abyssinia

There is a funny story related to a safari incident. Have a great time, but be careful. And don't forget that emotional support elephant. And stay off my lawn ... PLEASE!

What prompted the post was that I was watching the 200 meters and the announcers said that Tobago had won and that it was the first gold medal for Africa in the 200 meters! I didn’t think Tobago was in Africa so I was really confused. I then found out that the runner’s name was Tebogo but that he was from Botswana. But I then had to google Botswana to find out where it was.

OK will give you alternative nice guy that I am. We have about 60 bananas in our freezer complements of our banana tree. Tired of looking at them. Can you bring back a hungry monkey? We will handle his food needs and you can have your service or emotional support animal. Win win
