Certainly an interesting statistic and sad state of affairs.

Unfortunately, today's politically correct environments, prohibits legitimate speculation as to why this is the case. The politically correct will sweep it under the rug and blame it on the sport being "too expensive" or "too exclusive" ... instead of seeing it for what it is.

C'mon, take a chance and tell us why.

Another riddle post?

Why don't you just say what you mean instead of the guessing game?

Did they grow up in Florida or do they live here for "tax" reasons? Many pros (especially golfers) chose Florida for that reason.

Interesting article. I grew up when Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks (never made the series), Bob Gibson, etc., were dominant players. According to the article, baseball is too expensive now. Although you always read about kids from the Caribbean - who are in extreme poverty - making it to the major leagues.

No Black players expected in World Series, a 1st since 1950

I'm...underwhelmed...

You’ve got to be kidding me! You think that this was a setup?

Nuts!

Yeah, I mean NO. That has changed. Now if you do not acknowledge a persons skin color, you are a racist. It all gets very confusing.

As a kid living in Brooklyn we painted bases on the street, choose up sides and off we went only stopping when cars were going by. Parents as umpries or referees not needed or wanted for that matter.

Will say we used either our hands for punchball or a stick as a bat for stickball.

Always get a kick when someone from Brooklyn talks about stickball or punchball. As if. That's ok though, we (guys from the Bronx) take it as a compliment. Imitation and all. BTW, as I sit at my desk running peoples financials, I have a Spalding on top of a trophy (maybe it is a spalding on top of a fancy fidget spinner. Not really sure. It is a Spalding though). Seriously, I didn't know Brooklyn played punchball. Stickball I would think. How about stoopball? P.S. Is it true you actually had a tree grow there?

Who maintains the official list of "decent" people?

btw, a tree grows in brooklyn is a classic time machine into that era. Love watching the old appliances especially the gas lighting in the apartments. Brooklynites are great cousins.

Us guys in Brooklyn invented ring o levio, skelley, box baseball perhaps even carpet guns. Apparently the young folks from the Bronx stole them from us.
