2001: A Space Odyssey and Three Days Of The Condor should be on a great movies list also.

Of recent movies I really liked The Shape of Water and Oppenheimer. The latter has been growing on me especially after its 7 Oscars.

All fair observations....

I would add:

It’s a mad,mad,mad,mad world.

From 1963, it’s a classic.

Pride and Prejudice: best love story, absolutely perfect in every way

Bladerunner: the original, could watch it 1000 times

The Year of Living Dangerously: another great love story, Mel and Sigourney when they were young


Aliens: scariest movie ever
Prometheus: 2nd scariest

The Unforgiven: Clint as the baddest gunslinger ever

Downton Abbey: the movie, Julian can write

OH!!! For sure.Saw that one at the drive-in 1963
And look at all of the stars in that movie.

Unforgiven is the greatest western that impacts the way you see gunslingers. Anything Clint Eastwood and also the title of my favorite Metallica song.

Remember when you could only see Wizard of Oz once a year on TV?

Seven Samauri, Jaws, Raiders, Das Boot, etc....all excellent. Jaws made me afraid of the ocean but still drink some Narragansett beers.

I'll add some of my faves even though they may not be classics:

Star Wars....first year in High school and first time I went on my own to the movies. It changed the way films are made forever.

The Terminator...don't worry....he'll be Bach

Top Gun Maverick. I dispise Tom Cruise but just love me some Top Gun. Was better than Top Gun and can't wait for Part 3

Step Brothers, Ricky Bobby, anything Will Ferrell

And I will disclose my favorite film is The Waterboy. Adam Sandler has made some entertaining comedies. Happy Gilmore is kinda a classic. Yes I am immature and usually only looking for laughs when I choose to watch movies....unless I'm forced to watch a "Chick Flick".

I love old war movies- The Dirty Dozen, Midway, Bridge too far, The Bridge over the River Kwai, The Great Escape, Das Boot, Green Berets, Force 10 from Navarone, Stalag 17, Platoon....so many more.

Is it me or does US Rep. Matt Gaetz of FL look exactly like Randall McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) in One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest? A definite separated at birth if I ever saw one!

Both The Shining and Deliverance messed with my head for a while after seeing them.

Napoleon Dynamite hasn't been mentioned. My daughters made us watch it at one holiday gathering. Couldn't *believe* anyone would intentionally sit and watch something like that more than once. Have now watched it multiple times. What is *wrong* with me??!

Funny movie.

Two other movies I found with a very strong message were Paths of Glory, and All Quiet on the Western Front.

Peter Sellers was great, one of my favorites with him was 'Being There'.

Another favorite, 'Harold and Maude'.
