That was my point. See, you said there could only be ONE James Bond. My reply is that there wasn't ONE James Bond. There were 9 of them. If there were only one, they would've all been played by actors who at least looked alike. But they weren't. The suspension of disbelief was shot to hell the first time they switched actors. The only thing they all had in common was that they had British accents.

My point, is that at least now, they're not going to try and pretend that the new main character is a 10th "James Bond". They're going to do something different, and the new main character will be someone other than another "James Bond."

I'm fine with that.

That is what you said in post 19.
And this is what I said in post 20;
"It's not another James Bond, it's a new 007."
What is hard to understand?

Yeah, I probably should stop doing that.

NOT.

So now there'll be another Bond. Except the writers won't pretend that it's the same man, played by different actors who don't look alike at all. This time, it'll be a different Bond, who isn't trying to look like the others.

I'm fine with that.

Context is everything.

This reminds me of a lesson. Some students at my Bible School were convinced that the Bible could guide them privately each day. They would take the book and randomly open it at a page, in either the Old or the New Testament and then do it again to get their daily message. My theology professor, Rev Dewy, once demonstrated: he opened the Bible and read “and Judas hanged himself” then he opened it to another page and read “do so likewise”.
Yes, context is everything.

I would like to see more Eskimos in television commercials. Just saying.

They prefer “Inuit” these days. I think Eskimo means “raw meat eater”. My girlfriend taught grade one in Frobisher Bay and she had to learn their language.

Inuit is only correct for all Canadian and Greenland native groups. There are non-Inuit populations in Alaska [and Siberia]

Yes, I suppose I am particularly sensitive for them perhaps because of my girlfriend. She would send me photos of her young students surrounding two small polar bear cubs which they adopted because the hunters killed the mother for food as they did not know she had cubs. The children fed and brought up the cubs. The young students drew beautiful and very colorful pictures. In the arctic everything seems grey but their pictures showed very bold and intense colors.

I would love to see them cast in a movie.

They seem to prefer Eskimo in Nome. Not sure why. I was checking up on a novel that takes place up there and its accuracy.

Well, then I’m corrected. Live and learn. What counts is what they’re happy with for me.

Nome Eskimo Community, Alaska | Political, social, and cultural interests of Nome and Bering Strait Native Peoples

I was surprised by it.

How did we get from a black female 007 to the definition of an Eskimo? Look, squirrel! :1rotfl:

Velvet 07-19-2019 02:12 PM

Concept association?
