Re: Momma Mia
I agree with Barefoot. I absolutely love, love, loved the movie. Brosnan can't sing, Streep was fabulous, Abba music still rings in my ears. Totally made my day.

Re: Momma Mia
Absolutely loved this movie!! Meryl Streep was fabulous and I am a big fan of Christine Baranski's. She has a great sense of humor. Loved the part where she fell on the bed and said "i think my feet are getting bigger from all this yoga!" Pierce Brosnon is so good to look at I didn't notice that he couldn't sing!
Left the theater in an upbeat happy mood singing "Dancing Queen" for days! |
Re: Momma Mia
Hard to believe Meryl Streep is 59. I thought she looked and acted so much younger; and she seemed to be having so much fun. Lovely and joyous movie.

Re: Momma Mia
It's late. At least for me. And I am getting into this "Momma Mia" thread really late. And now I am going to link something here that will convince you that my sense of humor just ain't right. But there is a little story that goes with this.
Around our house, when I invite Mr. Boomer to go to a movie, he always asks me, "Does anything get blowed up? Anything get blowed up real good?" Well, if it is a movie that I want to see, it is unlikely that anything will get "blowed up real good." Some of you may recognize the allusion to SCTV's "Farm Film Report" with John Candy and the other guy that I don't know who he is. Anyway, this stuff goes really far back. You know, back to the days when SNL was funny. In honor of the "Momma Mia" thread, I am linking here the "Farm Film Report" about Meryl Streep. I know that there may be only one or two people who will think this is funny, but that's OK. Mr. Boomer only discusses movies in terms of whether or not anything "gets blowed up real good." So that's how we communicate about "film" at the Boomer house. (We still have not gone to see "Momma Mia" but I will figure something out.) Warning: In this video Meryl Streep is a guest on "Celebrity Blowup" for the "Farm Film Report." Need I say more. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/sc...eep/1502487258 Boomer |

How well I know. We also use quotes from Monty Python around our house. And then there is the just total and complete slapstick that makes me roll on the floor laughing. I once starred in a total slapstick scene, in my real life. I was walking along, at a local mall, looking into my shopping bag, and no doubt thinking about 3 or 4 different things, simultaneously, when I walked right up the side of the fountain and fell right into the water, all full of pennies. I was laughing so hard at myself that I could not even get up. . . .and that's another story. Boomer |
Re: Momma Mia
Definitely a chick flick...and this movie would be a big hit with the Populus of ths Villages.....BUT I have to agree with sschuler1. ....I can add. Dont get me wrong I liked (no enjoyed) the movie but it is difficult to imagine the actors in this situation. 007 should stick to spy stories and he should not have received any of the top billing. Merle Street's daughters was great and I am surprised she did not get better recognition than she did. It does not hurt that we are cruising to greece later this year!!

Re: Momma Mia
Those roles were filled with stars that would help sell a movie, not with actors that were more appropriate for the roles. The girl that played the daughter was wonderful.

We go to different movies in the same theatre so we both get a dose of the movie we crave. We meet afterwards to hold hands and have a coffee. Not very romantic, but it works for us. |
Re: Momma Mia
One of the best sceens was when one of Meryl Streep girlfriends (The tall one) a was at the bar and had a song and dance number with all the guys...that had to make her day!!
BTW does anyone remember who was the actress who played the daughter.....I thnk she was sweedish! |
Re: Momma Mia
I can't remember her name, but she was one of the three "plastics" in the movie Mean Girls. She played the really dumb blonde that could predict the weather by feeling her boobs.
