As I recall, the movie featured a couple where the husband decided to go wild after moving to the villages. A widow is financially unable to move back to her former town and a guy living in his van who is looking for an attractive wealthy woman to take him in.

Obviously, showing happy, satisfied residents wouldn't get many viewers.

The director made a short film about a guy who lived on Royal Caribbean cruise ships and it seemed pretty fair.

It’s 4 different stories.

New documentary about us – official trailer.

Hey folks – looks like that film about us from earlier this year is finally coming out in January. The trailer was just released: Some Kind of Heaven - Official Trailer - YouTube

Not sure how I feel... looks more like Twin Peaks than TV.

I may get drunk one evening, and watch it from behind the sofa, with a pillow in front of my face.
Couldn't do it sober!

I love the preview and I really look forward to purchasing the movie.

Since it is a preview of an upcoming movie, why do they call it a 'trailer'? Sometimes I just don't understand the words young'uns use these days.

STLRAY 11-25-2020 09:27 AM

I read recently that they are called trailers because the previews used to be shown at the end of the movie.

I am looking forward to watching this when it becomes available.

Looks like it could be a cynical take on TV, but I’ll most certainly watch it.

I haven't seen it yet, probably will see it. I think the trailer doesn't do it justice, from what I've heard from people who have actually seen it.

Basically - the concept is that yes, TV really is an awesome place to live, for most people. And while they show you how awesome it is, to most people, they will show you the stories of a very few people who it is NOT awesome for, and why it isn't awesome for them.

As you said - it wouldn't be all that interesting if it was just featuring awesomeness. It'd just be a travelogue or an epically long commercial, if it didn't show the shadier side.

It's playing at the Epic theater in Ocala all this week.
Saw the Sunday matinee, that theater is super clean and sanitized, with very comfortable seating.
The movie does lean towards a documentary, however there is some vintage clips of Harold Schwartz during the grand opening of Spanish Springs town Square, very interesting.
The movie in itself....very dark, left the theater feeling quite sad for the folks portrayed.
Not a feel good flick ~

You don’t have to wait for Netflix you can see something like this on any number of reality shows that people watch every night on TV and please let’s not say I want to watch because I can see the opening of Spanish springs let be honest you want to see the the misfortunes of these people and be glad your not them , I feel sorry for these people , but they are not alone there are many like them to many

Well, the most interesting thing is that Roger Ebert “thinks”, since he has been in The Villages in the Sky for almost eight years. :icon_wink:

After seeing this movie , I wanted to end it! Probably the worst movie I ever saw in my life! The Villages have so many Positive Things going on here but this 23 year old kid producer decided to take advantage of a few people who are down on their luck! We streamed it off Amazon Prime!
