Beaujolais Nouveau Party
 

TednRobin If you are going to do a Beaujolais party why don't you do on that Thursday of Beaujolais Nouveau release with a little bit of cheese, a salami and a baguette? Each could bring your own set. Don't know how this year's grape will turn out but usually Louis Jadot does a fairly decent job. Don't know whether any of the stores will carry them. If not, any Beaujolais would be great. Incidentally, one of my friends had a Valentine party and he offered St. Amour and a red rose to the ladies. It was a big hit. I wished I had thought of that.

Chuckinca and Brit. Yesterday we went to a Virginia Wine Festival held at Mt. Vernon George Washington's Estate and had Vionier from Horton Cellars. Horton is a pioneer in Virginia winery and their Vionier is pretty good though don't expect Condriue. Saw posting about U.S. wines outside of west coast and perhaps Finger Lakes, NY to be not up to standard but Virginia wines are getting very good except value for money, I think they lose out.

My dad has made homemade wine since before I was born. He just finished making this year's batch. Dad makes very sweet wine, but that's the only wine I ever drank (in very small glasses) before going to college. Tasting a dry wine was quite an experience after drinking my dad's wine, but now I drink chardonnay, chablis, pinot grigio and occasionally merlot and pinot noir. Haven't had my dad's wine for years -- way to sweet for me. Cheers! :wine:

Angie. You are not:). I draw a line from those drinking white Zin, a jug of so called Cablis or Burgandy or Andre sparkler. Two buck Chuck is fine though it's now 3 buck Chuck. For daily wine drinking there are lot's of wines between 6 to 10 dollars which are quite good. Wish TV had Trader Joe's.

Chianti, but only from the Chianti Classico region. You'll know the bottle by the symbolic black rooster on the label. Only chianti from that region can use the black rooster.
