I bet more accidents have been caused by folks who can't put their cell phones down than those speeding.

I think that over 30% of the golf cars are "juiced up" to go 30 MPH or more. It is like a drag strip mentality in the residential blocks. I agree that they are wearing out their vehicle engines prematurely. You can notice the LOUD NOISE as an over-revving golf car engine goes by while you are listening to the radio and sitting or working in the front yard. I also think that the brakes on a golf car are NOT good enough to encourage tail gating. Also, when they are going 30+MPH they don't take corners very well.
.......And once again I believe that the Police are doing our community a disservice by allowing so many "juiced-up" golf cars to continue their RECKLESS driving.

That's actually humorous. We have drivers going 10 MPH OVER the speed limit and drivers going 10 MPH UNDER the speed limit. Both producing problems.

I think that it is very unfortunate that a well known problem like golf car speeding is allowed (wink, wink) to have developed. It shows a lack of moral clarity. It is like the "broken window" concept of Policing that New York City needed to deal with many years ago. We need a sign under the America's Friendliest City sign that reads, "See a Problem, Ignore the Problem.

Nothing stranger than having a golf cart going 1mph faster slowly passing you. May take a full block before they finally pull ahead. What's the point?

I get mad at the Police Officers that have allowed this dangerous behavior to become widespread.

Don't forget that is an EXTRA service that they can CHARGE for. They just MIGHT be inclined to bend the law a bit. Incidentally, I would not fight about whether the top legal speed was 20, 24, or 25 as long as it was STANDARDIZED and ENFORCED.

If speed matters so much, why move to a retirement area. Retirement overall means a slowing down. Many people PREFER a LEISURE type of lifestyle. You are playing, pickle ball, softball, tennis, or golf because you have SPARE time. Why drive like your hair is on fire?

In 10 years, I've seen maybe 2 carts go over 30, but I'm not sure about one of them. And while I've seen a bunch of carts go 25, very few of them are "reckless". I believe you are employing reductio ad absurdum

A cart going over 20 or 25 MPH is VERY loud. Way louder than 90 % of automobiles and small trucks. I would get a headache after about 1 mile of riding in a LOUD golf car - I have a hard time understanding WHY people can put up with their own LOUD golf car. They must have lost a lot of hearing throughout their lives. Just go out in your front yard some day and read a book and notice how many times you look up to hear a LOUD vehicle go by - many times it is NOT a commercial truck, it is a fast moving GOLF CAR.

That's the way I have been thinking about golf cars. They have high centers of gravity and cheap suspension and brake parts. They are the opposite of a sports car. Also cheap loud mufflers. And when you throw in alcohol prone drivers, then maybe the speed limit should be 15 MPH.

I'm sure you think that too.
