I'd like to use an indoor pool in the summer. I hate all that sun and sunscreen. Seems like a way to prevent skin cancer if you ask me (I realize no one did or will). At this campground we like they have this lovely pool that is half outdoors and half in and I always keep myself in the part that is under the roof, even in the summer months. Just easier for me with my fair skin not to worry about wearing a hat and keeping covered.......

There are many commercial retractable and fixed pool roof systems on the market.

People who don't swim for exercise and just float & soak do not understand what rigorous aquatic exercise does for a person, and apparently, they don't want to.

It's pretty sad when people who have 40+ golf courses to use for free refuse to even consider others, and the real need for at least ONE centrally-located sports pool to be at least under roof, from which solar assistance could help heat the water. The frame could also have removable sides for the summer.

I believe it's still there...in the therapy building. I also think you have to have a referral but you'd have to call the front desk there to find out!!

There was an option to keep the indoor pool at the Sharon Morse building after MPV took over. Not enough people signed up to make it work. We can't have everything!!!!!

I have been going to Lake Rehab in the Sharon Morse Building since January. I use a small warm pool for knee therapy. Located next door to the small warm pool, is a large indoor pool which hasn't been used for years. I've been told the pool is closed for "political reasons". Strangely, the pool appears to be in good shape and is treated weekly with chemicals.

Water temperature

Yesterday I was in a pool and it was no where near 80+ degrees. We all froze and I certainly didn't find that aspect enjoyable. Turn up the heat - can't imagine what it's like at 0700!

As another poster mentioned.

Maybe a portion of the outdoor pools fitted with something like this? More bang for the buck possibly.

2012 annual survey

While building your wish list for the 2012 annual survey, please consider asking for another bowling alley, and widening the Morse bridge.

I'm for all of these suggestions as long as it doesn't cost us anything.

I would favor this approach to the "indoor" pool discourse until the true usage can be established and a financial plan developed

HYPOTHETICAL costs

In winter, a resident must pay $57 to golf Palmer; $39 OBH. Let's just use $50 as average (in prime time of day too). In summer we can play any of these for $6 after 5PM. A little more earlier in day.

So ask yourself, would you pay $50 for 4 hours of INDOOR pool use in January? And, no you can't buy it at $12.50 per hour; just like golf where you must pay for 18 holes in prime time, you must pay for 4 hours at the pool at a time.

I'm not saying I think it could be done for $50, just looking for some perspective. I actually think it would be more!

De Lis .... The pools are (supposedly) all heated to 83/84 degrees. However I've been to more than one pool on the same day, and there is a huge temperature variation from pool to pool. Our local adult pool was way too cold for a while. People complained and they found out the heater was broken.

They should lower the price of popcorn and candy at the movies!

swimdawg's post/request has jumped the tracks.

The request was for those who are interested in an indoor pool to please mention that in the survey.

I see this as similar to asking for a Costco or another Starbuck's. If enough people are willing to support an indoor pool someone will provide one.

Am I on the right track swimdawg?
