People from all over the country, including Spruce Creek and Stonecrest can drive their cars to the squares. One of the reasons that the gate was installed is that people from outside The Villages were coming over and playing on the executive courses after they had closed. The starters and ambassadors leave at 7:00. In the summer there is plenty of time to play nine holes or more. |

Hi, like this website, the golf cart paths are for our residents to use. You should be able to golf cart in Spruce Creek and enjoy their resident websites.

Thank you. I agree. Why should they be entitled to use our golf cart paths.? First of all Spruce Creek South is allowed to cross 441 by golf cart only at their entrance gate light. And that happened only about maybe 7 to 8 yrs ago. Before that they could not
It was given permission because people were complaining they could only use their golf cart in their community but wanted to shop in Wal-Mart and others stores on the east side if 441. But does not give you the right to use our golf cart paths that we pay for. |
Golf cart access is via a golf cart path. The Villages owns that path, it is private property and accessible only by people who pay for the privilege of having a gate pass.
At one point, there was an impenetrable barrier between that back road and Paradise Avenue. No one could get in or out through it. It was because of security concerns that they put it up. Obviously outsiders were coming in, unimpeded, and causing problems. But the VIllagers living there demanded it be taken down, as in many cases, golf cart access was their ONLY access to the medical facilities there (some people on the Historic side don't have cars, only golf carts). After a few months it was taken down and replaced with swing gates and cameras. Even now, we get outsiders breaking through the gates, or waiting on the outside in their carts, for someone to let them in, claiming they "forgot their card." And sometimes you see people trying to leave the Historic side, claiming they "forgot their card." If I don't recognize you, and you are trying to leave the Villages toward the parking areas that have empty flatbeds, I'll check for your Villages ID. If you say you left your wallet at home, then you'll need to go back for it anyway to show the doctor's office your insurance card, or to pay for your products at the store. But yes that's why you, someone who doesn't live in the villages, is not allowed to take your golf cart on private property that belongs to someone else. |

That's an opinion, not an answer. |

Roads in The Villages are public, hence available to residents and non-residents alike. Multi-modal (golf cart) paths are not. They are maintained using private resident funding. Why should/would we make their use available to residents of a non-Villages neighborhood? Are you OK with us stopping by and using, for example, your pools????

Gate Access
I see people using the button to get through the gates all the time. Can't you do that?

The general public have been using our golf courses in the late evening and our pools all day long. They do not pay for the amenities, and have no right to use them. They are welcome to come in their cars to the squares to see the entertainment, to eat in restaurants, to shop in stores. Executive golf, pools, rec centers, and other amenities are for residents and their documented guests only. Even the cart paths are maintained with our amenity fees. So when a Village employee comes to the pool and asks to see everyone's Village ID, be glad. They are protecting your investment. |
