At one point, it was implied the incident didn't happen because it wasn't reported in a local newspaper and that the original poster was making it up. Again, that's just wrong.

Yes, we speculate. It's human nature. But some of the comments were well beyond mere speculation. It was automatically assumed that the man didn't remember or know anything because he was on drugs, not because he'd been hit on the head with a pipe (that was my first thought on why he didn't know what was happening).

Maybe we should work more on getting facts and waiting before we condemn, judge or, yes, even speculate. There's something wrong when people call another a liar before all the facts are out. There's something sad about automatically assuming the worst about another human because something happened to them and they aren't one of "us." Isn't that how vigilantes work?

SalyBow may be the minister but at least she spares us from the preaching.

Some of you basically called the OP and one of our members a liar. It seems that whenever something doesn't fit into the scheme of images of TV, then the poster is lying. It was said it didn't happen because it wasn't reported in either the Sun or the Sentinel. It was implied that the OP made it up since it was second- or third-hand information. One member was basically called a liar because she said she witnessed the incident. (BTW -- I know salybow -- not only is she NOT a liar, she is a minister. I think someone owes her a very sincere and abject apology.)

The victim had head trauma injuries. He wasn't from TV; he was under 55. Rather than thinking he might actually not remember and have no clue why it happened, it is decided it had to be drugs and he was lying to cover up his own guilt. Hope you guys never serve on a jury. It really is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty and not just proven guilty on speculation.

Yes, there's a drug problem in outlying communities. There are also a lot of decent, hardworking people that live there. We don't know why the man was attacked. The odds of it being random are pretty slim, but road rage is a very good possibility, so is an argument at a restaurant or in the square, so is a debt being owed, so is .... Many scenarios are possible but we don't have the right to speculate.

As to the comment that, "In another thread regarding 'concealed weapon permits', there were several posters who indicated they always carried their pistols while in The Villages at night. What kind of chaotic damage would have been caused if one of those 'loose cannons' (no pun intended) had been there and started opening fire?" I am willing to bet that there were several people who were milling around who in fact were carrying. Most who carry are anything but loose cannons; they are very tightly controlled, especially when it comes to their weapons.

When did we become so suspicious and judgmental that we will accuse each other of lying? That we automatically assume the worst of another human when that human becomes a victim? Is it really that much easier to think the worst of someone on just pure speculation?

There are now 13 pages to this thread. What that says to me is that posters are concerned. Concerned people seek information. Informed people make demands of their leaders. I for one am very grateul for the interest in this issue. Go residents!

Again, I was there

It did happen. The man was hurt. I judge he was younger than TV age . The street was bloody but it was raining and head wounds do bleed profusely. A man jumped out of a red SUV and hit him over the head. He fell and hit hie head once more. Thay put him on a backboard and transported him to the hospital.

SALYBOW 10-11-2011 03:19 PM

Sorry you feel that way buggyone, this is credible since it did happen. I guess maybe no one told the newspapers. I don't know as I never read them. I see enough bad things as a chaplian at the hospital, I don't need more.

SALYBOW 10-11-2011 03:24 PM

ROFLMAO. Too Funny.

No, there are 13 pages of people guessing what happened and adding their speculation of what happened. I agree if you are so concerned as to what happened stop by the sherriff's sub station and ask.

No More Screen Names

This forum gets way too personal, way too quick! The smart ass, arrogant remarks do not have a place on this forum.

I vote that we do away with screen names. Maybe the use of our real names might deter some of the rudeness! Just my opinion for what it is worth.

I am very sorry Salybow.

I owe Salybow an apology. I know her and know she knows what she is talking about. And she isn't a liar or an exaggerater. She is a wonderful person.

I must have scanned over her post. I am embarassed and sorry Salybow.

And Red, no one ever jumps out of a car and whacks me on the head, although I am sure sometimes I deserve it.

I am just saying usually something real bad has happened before the head whacking starts.

redwitch 10-11-2011 06:09 PM

Gracie, I'm sure the idiot who hit the guy felt he deserved it, but it could have been anything from road rage to commitment issues to owed money to drugs to .... Truth is my issue was more that we're so willing to judge and accuse in TOTV lately. I hope it quits soon.

Two members were basically called liars; I was accused of preaching; licensed gun holders/carriers were called loose cannons.

And, VG, feel free to not read my posts. I promise to have no problem ignoring yours.

Sounds like boys will be boys. This is getting old. To much drama.

Figmo Bohica 10-11-2011 06:20 PM

Might be a good idea to wait until the investigation is done and then we will get ther real story.

Salybow, I just wanted to let you know that my response was posted 2 hours earlier than your post about being present during the altercation. Please accept my apology if you feel it was directed at you. However, if you read my post, I stated that hopefully someone from TOTV was there and would share what they saw instead of all the speculation that was going on.
Thank you for sharing your observations of the scene. :ho:
