It is interesting to me that in this thread so many people are so judgmental and critical of the poor folks that happen to have what appears was just a garden-variety motor vehicle accident; no alcohol, drugs, criminal activity as the cause. I just want to share my 2 cents to say that accidents can happen to all of us, even though we are law-abiding drivers that do our best to exercise due care in our vehicle operation. A momentary slip of attention can cause an accident ..... that's why it is called an "accident". Where there are two vehicles involved in the accident, maybe one of them contained a driver that was just an unfortunate victim of someone else's momentary lapse of attention. That is the price we all pay for the convenience of motor vehicles, and, in my opinion, it is not a function of where one lives or whether a person is kind, good, respectful of others, etc. In most situations, it is not a function of reckless behavior. BUT ..... this is just my opinion.

P.S. I have been involved in at least 3 accidents in the last 50 years, and not only am I a good guy, but I also always do the best I can to be a safe driver.I hope I'm still allowed to live in TV [tongue in cheek]

Sadly those lapse of attention come more in the form of toys and gizmos instead paying attention to driving. Yes accidents happen, but more and more you will find that accidents are caused by devices and distractions that drivers know they should not be using on the road. And I'm one of those who will not answer the phone while driving. WHen I'm parked I'll check and see if I need to call back. Nothing is worth it. And not saying that anything like that played apart in you're accidents or others here but people really need to watch what they're doing. I literally watched a driver go through a red light that had been solid red for 60 seconds. I don't joke. I did honk my horn at him hoping to make him realize he did something wrong, probably didn't faze.
