...there's too much sand in the sand traps
...there should only be 1 lane inbound to the roundabouts ...my golf club was stolen by a thieving Villager ...the Developers should do something about the Seat Savers and on and on and on |
It's all because of people who live in Wildwood !!

A whiner states:
"The problem is that no knows how to make a pizza like they do back home." A positive person suggests: "Wouldn't it be great if they could make a pizza like they make back home." |

At a monastery high in the mountains, the monks have a rigid vow of silence. Only at Christmas can the monk speak, and then only two words, and only to the head monk.
On his first Christmas there, Brother Thomas is allowed to speak and he says, "More Blankets" Silence ensues for 365 days. The next Christmas, Brother Thomas speaks to the head monk again, and says "More Food". Once again, silence for 366 days (it's leap year). The following Christmas, Brother Thomas speaks to the head monk and says, "I'm leaving." The head monk responded "Good, you've done nothing but whine since you've got here". |

I would like to have a thread started for all the compassionate, and sympathetic people. I thought one of the purposes of this board was to be able to share your questions, your thoughts on things, and your feelings about what is going on in the Villages. But if you try to post something that is not popular or have an opinion about something about the Villages that is not shared by about 20 people on here then the only responses you get seem to be sarcastic, and smart a** remarks. I have posted several things on here that I was really bothered by, and instead of people trying to give constructive comments or just some sympathy, or just someone who seems to care, those were the type comments I routinely get. Again, I am not speaking of everyone, just some. You need to realize that posts frequently reflect what is happening to someone. The poster may be overwhelmed by things going on in their life at that moment, they may have a friend or family member who is sick or dying, and this board is their ownly diversion from sadness and pain. It is only expected that their posts and responses may be affected with what is going on in their life. And then when they get the sarcastic, hurtful responses, that increases their pain. Or someone may be new and feels like the people on the board are their only friends. I am just saying that people's post may reflect their life at the time.
I have posted several times about the tree and bridge/island payments by the CDD's south of 466. This has honestly bothered me because we weren't involved with anything to do with the trees. I know nothing is going to change with that situation-probably. But I can guarantee if people don't keep the case open, and just tell everyone to just stop whining, there is a 100% percent chance it will ever be solved. I also don't think it is right that we are also going to be responsible for the bridge/island repair. I think that it should be up to the developer to pursue the contractor and business that did the original job to pay for the repair instead of just saying we will charge the CDD's. And if they are going to do that, why not all of the CDD's instead of half of them. That is not fair by any measure. The next thing that has bothered me is the probability that the developer is going to build another 800 houses across from Pinellas. We live at the intersection of Buena Vista and Morse. I realize we moved there willing, but we were told when we specifically asked, that there were going to be more houses built across 466a, already planned for, and that would be all of the Villages. Well, we all know now that a lot of us were lied to. We were told at that time that buildout would be 2014 because there was something about water rights expiring at the end of 2014. Anyhow, they have added another 2000 houses which will certainly impact our area. Our roads and cart paths are already over crowded. When the developer decided to build 300 houses around the VA, the people up there were devasted because they were going to be crowded and it would impact the restaurants and stores. I actually sympathize with them because of our experience with building around us for the past 4-5 years. But before the building affected them personally, I will bet they didn't give us down here a thought when we have gone through crowding and lack of restaurants, etc for the population that was here. If something doesn't directly affect you, it is no big deal, right. Lastly, going on around the same time as the tree and island issues, we also found out about the probable addition of 800 more houses right beneath us, making our street and cart paths, already crowded, the target for another possible 1500 more cars and/or carts. This will be another main impact for us, but....if you don't live arround here, no big deal. Right? So, if anyone is still reading this, or if the administer hasn't deleted it, I would like to thank those Villagers who have taken a little time to answer my posts with an honest, reasonable , adult response. For the others, I will take my whining off this board so you won't have to hear it so to speak. But for what it is worth, everyone who is so determined that everything here is perfect, and the developer is almost likened to "a God", is just being in denial, and equally annoying. There is no where in this world without problems, and things that need to be changed. When you try to pretend that TV is, you are actually hurting the community. People need to be proactive , and when there are problems, even if you don't see it, but hear it from others, then you are holding back improvements that could make this place even better. Don't you realize that if the original people who were here didn't identify problems, we wouldn't be here??? That's all, Good-bye. BTW, I won't be reading responses on here. If someone has a response I would want to hear, just message me. |

All of us who bought new, bought in different stages of commercial development. Colony had just opened when we first bought in Hadley. A lot of restaurants had not opened and Sams Club was not here along with a lot of other businesses. Two years ago people were ranting about no restaurants at Brownwood, crowded Publix, a number of things have been added. Commercial development lags sometimes, but it gets here. Those who lived here and bought new when Lake Sumter Landing was being built can tell the same tale. The people up by the VA were worried that it would be crowded. There is a lot of hysteria going on about things that will probably work out. The difference is that I trust the good sense of the planners and others do not. I worry about a lot of things that people are doing nothing about, like Isis...and children being gassed in Syria. I care about people who have recently been diagnosed with cancer and about the people who love them. I hope that the way this country is run is restored to the people, but I don't worry about how The Villages are run south of 466. So far, so good. I think that we all just need to wait and see. And step back and look at what already has been accomplished. I worry that people who worry will keep the people that I hope to move here from moving here. If I read this forum, I would NEVER buy here. |
I love the Villages.
I knew when we moved here 15 years ago that the developer liked to develop. I think they have done an awesome job. I would rather The Villages develop the property around us rather than someone filling up spaces with whatever and moving on. Would some rather have some fly by night developing the surrounding property ? Not me. I also don't get too much into the griping feasts. I will wait and see how things, such as Katie Belles, turns out before I complain. Then again, if I don't like it, I just won't go. We all can't "love" everything. Never have and never will. There is no lack of things to do here. We have seen so many changes since we moved here. I actually find it exciting. If the Villages isn't developing the property around us, someone else will. I would put my money on the Villages to do a top notch job. :bigbow: |
