I don't think luck has anything to do with the way The Villages prevents flooding. We have a great water management system here in The Villages. Does anyone have an idea how much rain water the system can handle in a certain time frame? I believe this system is the reason we have not flooded during storms. Well, south of 466 hasn't flooded as far as I know.

I do agree with you that The Villages was spared with where the eye came ashore and that jog to the east helped too. I wonder how The Villages would have fared if the eye of the storm came ashore directly west of us and traveled directly over The Villages. Would the water management system prevented flooding?

Many of the golf courses would have flooded... Which is part of the water management system,. Better to flood a golf course than flood hundreds of homes...

It was the unprecedented storm surge on top of relentless rain. Obviously,, we wouldn't have had the storm surge from the ocean. My question now is are there enough immigrants to do all the clean up?

We were very lucky but sad to see our banana tree suffered damage and looks like no bananas to be had for some time.
