OK, 83 posts for something that is very simple:
If you don't like Southern Oaks, don't play it If you don't like the prices at Sawgrass, don't eat/drink there If you don't like bugs, use a spray or take up mah jong. If you're looking for champagne on a beer budget, rotsa ruck Pretty easy, huh????? |

I played Bonifay, back in July. I was also swarmed by those black "mosquitoes" on a few holes. Both times, when it was when I hit a ball down by the water's edge...
I learned to stay away from the water! It's not just Southern Oaks that has them... |
I live in Hawkins, too. The bugs are not bad during the day -- at dusk, they are horrible in Hawkins.
There is noise in Hawkins -- there is nowhere you go in Hawkins that you cannot hear the turnpike -- sometimes it is very minor and other times loud. St. Johns is worse than Hawkins -- I've walked every inch of both. No disrespect, but it is like we live in two different Hawkins. Quote:

There is a lot to dislike about South of 44 in The Villages -- I won't debate that.
What I do like, which is turning lemons into lemonade, is that my Village is bordered by the Turnpike and a County or State, dunno, protected preserve. There will never be apartments, section 8 housing, Fish Games, multi-generational housing, etc. near my home -- everything is done, landlocked. In 5 years, I won't have to complain about scenic farmland turning into apartments, etc. I don't have to worry about any encroachment -- it cannot happen. I like that we are closer to the airports, Universal, Disney, Tampa, etc. The turnpike is just a couple of miles away, 75 is just 5 minutes away. Costco, coming to Claremont, is just 40 minutes away. I like Orlando area shopping more than Ocala area shopping. Shops and stores will come to the south -- Middleton and Eastport areas -- they will be new and clean. There will not be old and dingy communities near the south -- at least, not near the new lands of The Villages. There will be less blending of those communities -- which seems rampant in the north and middle Villages. There is, genuinely, a LOT to like about the northern Villages, no doubt. I've just learned to appreciate what I have. Quote:

I don't care who lives where, I don't need to bash anyone about their choices, or what they like about their area, and I don't care who doesn't like things about where someone else lives. As an impartial observer, my take is that any criticism of anything in the newer southern areas is taken as an insult by some who live down there. |

Inciting? How? By my factual statements? Of course anything can be twisted… Me>>>> “it’s beautiful in The Villages today!” Inciting a response “no I see a cloud and it may rain”. Sure. This is why TOTV can be a turnoff for some. And probably why some never start a Thread opening themselves up for ridicule. Again Jeeeez. |

My opinion of a factual statement by me. Is that the best you can come up with? OMG. Please |

Saying a beer is $7 is not inciting because it is a fact. Saying that price is a "ripoff" is inciting a nasty response. |

Honestly, you get used to it 90% of the time.
It is from dusk to dawn, during certain weather conditions, it can be loud. My point was, people who say it is not loud, either have hearing issues, or come from a large urban area where they have long been desensitized. Quote:

Ok plastic cup issue, if you go to any drink shack outside you get a plastic cup.do you complain at the squares when you get a plastic cup? One can’t roam around outside with a Glass, but if you did who would be responsible if you dropped and it shattered, or better yet how many would return the glass after walking to your golf cart. Some can’t pick up their trash and throw in a bin, much less return a Glass. So plastic it is

Hospital will be a teaching facility, many in the health care community are counting down the time until they can transfer to the area. Plus trauma will be at the facility, for those who live for the adrenaline junkie life, like me.
